Hey! I took my CFA recently, and I'm worried about two of my scores. I had to do a flexed arm hang and could only stay up for 15 seconds, and my mile time was like 8:22. However, I hit the average for the basketball throw and push ups, and I maxed out sit ups. My shuttle run was a little slow, but not enough for me to think it's disqualifying. Is it likely for the flexed arm hang and mile run to fail me for the whole test, even with the rest of my scores?

Also, when are you notified if you failed or not? Is retaking the test a possibility even if it's after my application deadline? I had to take the test earlier than I wanted to because my deadline was the 21st.

Here’s USAFA’s CFA goals, available on their website. You’re nearly a minute off goal on the mile, 15 seconds off goal on the flexed-arm hang (which is already a discounted version of the pull-up), and I’ll presume you’re also off goal on the shuttle run. I’m no CFA expert, but this seems shaky since you’re off on three of six events. Of course, you’ll know soon enough when USAFA notifies you of whether this is a pass. Others may have examples of whether they were allowed to submit new scores post-deadline.

You can only submit your score once so I would check the averages before you send your test in just to be sure but there is a chance they could let you retake it.

Read the instructions to candidates. If you don't pass the CFA, they will contact you automatically to retake the test. Don't know exactly how long it takes to find out, but others who had to retake have said they heard pretty quickly as in a few days.

It sounds like if you failed, you will be notified relatively quickly. Like within a few days.

@Jm2539, building on the above two comments, I’d start training for a retake right now. Just presume that you’ll fail and be told to do it again. So getting a head start would be very wise. Like right now!

I know a female who had very similar scores to yours and she got accepted directly into the Academy last year. The only thing she did different was she was able to do 3 pull-ups. Her run, pushups, sit-ups, basketball throw, and shuttle run were the same as yours. I wouldn't be too stressed and honestly if you haven't got a message from USAFA yet about retaking the test they probably considered it a pass
