SOD paratroopers?

Hey guys,

I’m fairly new to learning about the army so forgive any obvious questions...

I was looking into National Guard paratroopers and saw articles about Special Operations Detatchment paratroopers in the Guard. What is this? Are they airborn-qualified Special forces, or is it something else? I thought SOD just referred to SF, but why were they called paratroopers in this article?

I’d like to try out for a paratrooper (or mountain) unit in the guard, hence why I ask. I’m trying to figure out which I’d like to aim for.

Thanks!

not sure "just airborn-qualified Special forces" goes together in a sentence
Yes that was badly phrased. I meant, are they SF who are (obviously) airborne qualified, or are they an entirely different MOS that is part of a SOD and are also Airborne?
