SAMPLE:
1) 2023Falcon / Self / LOA / 27-Nov-2017 / Accepted / CO / Congressional / Direct Appointment

Note: You can always go back to update by copying the most recent list into a new post, updating your entry with data such as acceptance or declination, etc.

Just found out moments ago!

2) OdysseyDawn/Self/No LOA/1-Dec-2018/Undecided (99% sure, however)/MS (but i live in MD)/Presidential/Direct Appointment
Congratulations! Do you happen to remember when your application was marked complete? Essentially, how long it took to find out about appointment?

So I submitted everything I could on Nov. 1 (literally the day it was due) and interviewed with my evaluator a week later. The evaluator uploaded it within the week after interview. Overall I waited 2-3 weeks from finishing everything to appointment notification.

Awesome! I'm very similar... have a Presidential nom, finished a little before my deadline (Nov. 2) and completed interview on Nov. 9. Evaluator submitted report Nov. 10 and was marked complete. Thanks for responding, I was just trying to see how long the cycle was currently taking. Looks like they're speeding up the reviewing process. Hopefully I'll hear within the next few weeks before they go on break!! Congrats again!

Keep in mind that there is no such thing as a "cycle" time in this process. The timeline for one candidate has nothing to do with how long it will take anyone else because of differences in all the parts of the application and one's district. Even with identical stats and apparent circumstances you could be waiting until March or April like 80% of the appointees.

I agree 100%. Completely understand and that definitely could happen. Just holding out hope that I find out early due to my specific situation (concerning nomination). Thank you for your insight!

@CVbsbl2019

Please reassure us you have applied for all other noms for which you are eligible. You want to have as many bites at the apple as you can!

You have no way of knowing how many candidates across the nation qualify for Presidential noms. The SA can only charge a certain number of appointments against this category. For a few candidates with Presidential noms, they may decide to go ahead and make the offer. More likely, they will see what other noms the other Presidentials bring to the table, so they have maximum flexibility as they build out the class. As they go along, they may use the Presidential quota for those candidates they particularly desire but did not get another nom, or were edged out on their MOC slate by a principal and where they stood if competitively ranked, or didn’t make the cut in the NWL assessment.

It is one large, dynamic puzzle, with the SA working diligently to build out a class while simultaneously working the nom considerations and eventual final charging, as in, Candidate W.T. Door will be offered an appointment, and a final settling on the nom category is made. This plays out over several months, and it is invisible to the outside. If made an offer of appointment, you may not ever know where it was charged. It also really doesn’t matter. It’s one of those things that is required, and the prize is the offer of appointment.

Yes I have applied for all! I have completed all three MOC interviews with my senators and congressman and I'm waiting to hear back. Thank you for your concern. I was merely focusing on Presidential because my ALO, a former panel member on the review board at USAFA, told me that due to the time of my app completion, if the Academy wanted to appoint me they would do so using the Presidential nomination. If not, I would have to wait until March like everyone else. That's his opinion and not at all guaranteed to happen, but it's why I am hopeful to maybe find out sooner this winter because most MOC nominations haven't been given out and Presidential nominations are one of a handful that candidates have right now.

Thanks for letting us know you’ve got everything in play. Now, finish HS strong, enjoy this time with family and friends, do PT for stress relief and to build endurance and stamina, focus on what you can control, tend to Plans B and C!

If I continue with my MOC interviews (which I didn't plan on doing), do I tell them that I was already appointed? Wouldn't that make them inclined to give noms to other people and not me so they can maximize their selectees?

I have received an LOA as of yesterday, so I have not yet been able to call my MoC or senator's offices yet and they haven't made nomination choices yet. Do I wait for a nomination to add to this thread? I know that nothing is guaranteed and that a lot of things could go wrong for me to still not get an appointment, so I was just wondering.

You should wait until you receive the formal appointment before adding your name to the list in this thread.

I see that you have listed yourself as having received an offer of appointment, and that your nom source was Presidential.

If that is the case, you do not need to seek a nom from any other source. You’re through the gate and in the decision phase. Politely inform the elected representatives’ staffers of your situation if you haven’t already, that you have received an offer of appointment.

Good luck in making the right decision for you.
