I am in the Army Reserves for 3 years now. The Reserve Command have acknowledged the short 6 months depression episodes and have given me a temporary profile. Voluntarily 1 day hospitalization in the VA. And now the profile have been taken away since I got cleared from depression (full remission). I went to do my DODMERB and answered prior depression/anxiety on the questionnaire. The depression have been in remission since May 2018. So I wonder if I might get DQ for Army ROTC (w/o scholarships). Thanks !

Please read it for yourself, but per DODI 6130.03, para. 5.28.f:

"f. Depressive disorder if: (1) Outpatient care including counseling required for longer than 12 cumulative months; (2) Symptoms or treatment within the last 36 months; (3) The applicant required any inpatient treatment in a hospital or residential facility; (4) Any recurrence; or (5) Any suicidality (in accordance with Paragraph 5.28.m.)."

However, I am curious why you went to the VA. Do you not have TRS? Also, if you are in the USAR, why not use your GI Bill + Tuition Assistance, skip AROTC and just apply to OCS or WOCS after your degree? Gives you time to clear up issue #2 above and you get the exact same outcome without all the extra classes and obligations from ROTC.

Especially considering you say you are not going on scholarship...

How Possible to you guys think it is to get a waiver ?
Are you going to rely on what someone on an anonymous forum tells you? What will you do if the answer in 'no'. What will you do if the answer is 'yes'. The only way to know for sure is to apply as each case is different and handled on an individual basis.

+1 to kinnem.

If they flag you, then you'll have to try for one. If they don't, then you're good. But as kinnem said, it really doesn't matter what we think. Are you going to toss in the towel if I say it is going to be super tough to get a waiver?

I ask again-- why not stay enlisted, use your tuition assistance and just apply for OCS in a few years when you get your degree? Gives you some more distance between your treatment and your application.
