And that’s how you sink a squid!
The Cadets played a tough game and deserved to win.
Inter-service rivalry is good, and gladly accept this kind of comment from a veteran of any branch (and will be quick to retort with my own extensive inventory). However, one of my pet peeves is hearing it from those that haven't served. OP's profile indicates that he's just a candidate this year, so I would suggest holding the trash talk until you have earned the right.
Amen to that, @Old Navy BGO. You definitely need to earn your right to talk trash, because it helps you appreciate the brother(sister)hood that truly exists.
At yesterday’s game, we were next to a group of very vocal, very animated, very vociferous West Point fans. They weren’t necessarily obnoxious, just loudly passionate. And then we saw that each one was wearing a black USMA jacket indicating their graduation year. Several had lived through the 14-game losing streak. They were celebrating their team, not denigrating the opponent. And again, they had earned the right.
Another thing there yankee, not even your newly made Marine brother has yet earned the right to call anyone squid.
You sound like a ninth grader.
For the second year in a row I watched the game with USMA grads. One is actually a former basketball player. We never played against each other as I have a decade on her, but I saw her play many times (dang good player). We all had a blast giving each other a hard time. But, there was no hatred. Part of it is you aren’t in the rivalry yet. You are seeing it from the outside. And that is fine. You aren’t there yet.
And I really do wish you luck on this journey, but calm down with the whole I will line about the LOA, nom, 3Q thing. It’s a marathon. Work hard for it. Lines like this don’t come off as humble.
People aren't Trash Talking you, they're actually being quite nice to you and trying to give you some kindly advice.Another thing there yankee, not even your newly made Marine brother has yet earned the right to call anyone squid.

I like the trash talk. It brings me humor.
+1 to Hoops. Just got back here to the midwest a few hours ago from the weekend in Philadelphia. Except for the game (from our perspective), it was a great time. Saturday evening at the bar, sat with WP folks I've never met all evening buying each other drinks and sharing jabs, history, laughter and great camaraderie. We did have a blast with hugs, shakes and best wishes all around as the evening ended. We all had a blast giving each other a hard time. But, there was no hatred.
