Please call home

Phone call will be 7/19

The letter we received on Thursday and announcement from the Commandant and Sup stated the first phone call would be 7/19 and 7/26, not today. Hang in there and stalk the pictures.:thumb:

Aren't the mids doing a great job keeping us up to date? My mother cried for days when my brother left for AFA.

I will admit that I got NOTHING DONE on Friday other than look at the pictures.

My kiddo is going to kill me~I have already sent newspaper clippings of the Tour de France and the local swim club as well as several 'form' letters for him to check off and mail back in the SASEs. Ok~so maybe I got some stuff done~just not in the department of housecleaning and laundry.

Thanks! Appreicate the info, have not received that letter yet????? Loven the pix here too! Awesome job!

We have mail ready to go in the morning. Youngest brother (9) wrote him a letter about his Cub Scout camp experience last week. We're including a letter to remind him to call husband's cell phone number next Sunday - and as a back-up (in case our cell phone reception is lousy), to call his uncle the retired Navy commander who was the one who two years ago suggested USMMA to son.

I'm not getting anything done either, what with continually checking for photos! And Husband is busy keeping friends and family updated through his Facebook page.

Is it true that they have ONE shot at a phone call and if there's no answer they're done until the following Sunday? Does anyone know a general time of day they'll be allowed to call? I'm going to be on phone watch the whole day (cell and land line) and even today I'm here just in case! They get a little bit of reprieve Sunday's if they go to chapel don't they?

Thanks for everyone's input! This forum and all the photo's that are being posted each day keeps me from going completely coo-coo! Thanks again Mid2012, you have kept us parents from climbing the walls and going crazy with worry!! You and all those who have helped put the photos together have been an awesome blessing to us parents!

We received a total of 1 letters during indoc. Actually, that's all we have ever received. Everything is email, skype and cell phones now.

kp2013dramamama~LOVE the name! We need to figure out a way to put faces to the names on PPW.
USNA is to be calling home today. Our HS sent 1 to USNA, 1 to USMAprep (sports injury) and 1 to USMMA. Can't wait to see everyone when home on break!

If nobody answers when they call they will be given another opportunity to call later in the day. The reprieve on Sunday's is a bit of a misnomer, the schedule changes slightly due to the service schedule, but they will still be very busy and they will have one of the most nerve racking times - the Plebe Knowledge Test. (not sure if they'll have one tonight though).

The phone calls can pretty much come at any time throughout the day, but will usually be prior to the evening. The best bet is between church and early afternoon, but it really could be anytime.

Yep, we received one letter all of last year, during Indoc, and she carefully stated that they made her write it. She refused to deal with email as a communication form once she saw how many official emails she had to wade through every day. Then she denied me as a friend on Facebook. ("Quit stalking me, Mom!" ) So our primary form of communication was instant messaging on MSN. After recognition she used Skype regularly.

Phone call..
They will have a chance to charge their cellphones (not sure precisely who/what/when/where).. but the DIs don't want the battery to go out 2 minutes into a 5 minute call.

I'd expect you could try a few numbers -- home/moms cell/dads cell... heck, it's just speeddial numbers. They're not going to be inhumane about it (that's what the rest of the day is for:) --teasing) If you didn't make contact within a minute or so, you'd probably go back and try again later.

Per letter from the Commandant:

"Each Candidate will be permitted a brief telephone call on Sunday 19 July and again on Sunday 26 July."

:shake:

I have seen several mentions about a letter from the Commandant. How and when did KP parents receive this letter? We don't remember receiving any letter from CAPT Fell.

It was a handout at the 11:00 meeting in Ackerman last Thursday.

Thanks for the reply...we got there a few minutes late and didn't get one. I will contact the Commandate's Office to see if they can send us a copy.

It was also included in the calendar. If you want I can email you a copy, just pm me your email address.
