Unfortunately, we didn't take very many pictures today so we are going to wait until tomorrow to post again. I just wanted to give you parents a heads up so you don't keep checking back tonight.

We promise that the images of your sons/daughters will continue tomorrow.

Sundays are lighter during INDOC. The candidates get to sleep in an extra hour. They also had the option to attend church services here on campus. Sundays are more about catching up on shoe shining, folding of clothes, and stenciling items. They should be refreshed for this week's endeavors.

Thanks Mid2012

Thanks again Mid2012 for your diligence and consistent communication to all of us at home. The photos are great and you & your team are doing a fabulous job.

Thank you

Ditto. Thank you for all your information and hard work. It is greatly appreciated by all here.

Thank you very much for the updates. They are greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for letting us know. You and your team are a lifesaver. Thank you for all your work. Your parents would be so proud.

I have a question for you, I was told that if care packages were sent during indoc that most likely they wouldn't make to our candidate, is this true? Should I wait until after indoc?

We have family and friends all watching for new Pics. It really helps seeing what they are all going through.
Thank You!

Mom8-

The care packages will make it to your candidate but if you wish to include food make sure you provide enough for their whole platoon (around 40 people). There's a 'sharing policey' with the food and they are distributed amongst the group.

Care packages are actually frequently sent and appreciated by all.

The package will make it to your candidate; however, it will be opened in front of everyone and any food items will then be split amongst everyone. So make sure if you send food/candy stuff to send enough for a bunch of people.

I recommend not sending care packages during indoc and instead stick with letters and cards. Save the care packages for after indoc when your son/daughter will be able to enjoy it with whoever they like and can open them in private.

Oh, if you do send a care package, make sure to include lots of glitter

the pictures are great, i look forward to seeing them everyday, but why were there no pictures of company 3 posted on saturday???(

In years past the upperclassmen have had other duties in addition to taking/posting photos. It seems to me that one year the midshipman taking the photos had duties that placed him/her in one particular company. The result was a disproportionate number of photos from that one company. That's the reality of life at KP, these mids are rarely doing just one thing at a time. I don't know if this is the case this year but it is a possibility.

As others have said: THANK YOU for the pics and updates......need a few more of Third Co.......noticed there they were not included in the day 3 pics yesterday :thumb:

I am so grateful for the pics. What are the best ideas for goodies? I have heard beef jerky, red hots. I plan a Costco run before parents weekend. Can we send anything to the photo team??

Thank you again Midshipman2012 you and your crew are awesome!!! Without you we would be going absolutely crazy. Please let us all know what you would like in care packages. The 2013 parents are so grateful for all of your work with your crew!!!

Thank you so much for your quick response. I will ensure I have enough for everyone. If you don't mind, at some point can you send me a PM with your name so I can send you and your team your own care package for all your work. I can't tell you all enough how much you have helped my family get through indoc.

Third Company Pictures now posted

Thank you for pointing out the lack of pictures of Third Company. I had forgotten to hit the "public" button on the web album so they were not on the site. Now you can view 54 pictures of the 3rd Company platoons. Enjoy.

As far as sending things to the photography crew, we're all students here for summer courses and would appreciate your generosity but it is most defiantly not necessary. It's awarding enough to read all of your words of admiration. Plus, with a camera in hand we're enabled to sneak around the companies and spy on our classmates being drill instructors so it has its own payoffs  if you wish to send anything, the address would be as follows:

Midshipman Alicen Heinrich #786
United States Merchant Marine Academy
300 Steamboat Road
Kings Point, New York 11024

I will ensure things are distributed appropriately. Thanks again for your kindness & enjoy the new pictures of third company candidates.

2012, you are the best. Saw a few more pics thanks to your extra effort.........so, at least we have the proof he lives to fight another day!
