Plan B....backup or active

My kid: #1 USAFA (or Prep or USNA)
Plan B The Citadel (we put a deposit down)
Plan C Texas A & M

He was offered USAFA Prep and accepted. The Citadel gave us our deposit back
There's an appointment thread! It would be great to see your DS added! Congrats!!!!

Just thought I'd start a thread for some insight to what others have as a backup to USAFA ..

Class of 2023 Hopefuls:
What do u have as a Plan B. C, or D?

For Class 2022 and previous years:
What plan B is active and that you highly recommend?

Ill go first:

DS 1st choice thats been his focus for last 5 years is USAFA. As plan B he also applied USNA, and recently accepted to ERAU.
I dont think they mean another academy when they say Plan B. While I am sure that going to USNA is your son's second choice its like saying Harvard is my plan A and Yale is my plan B. Either way, good luck

Self

Plan A: USNA (will go if medical waiver is approved. Have LOA/Nom)
Plan B/C/D: NROTC at State school, Purdue, or Michigan (I still need to go on some visits)

Self/USAFA/USNA
Plan B: ERAU or NCSU for engineering and ROTC
Plan C: Reapply next year (even if I end up at ERAU or NCSU for a year, I’m definitely reapplying)

If your young adult is looking for the Corps of Cadet experience they might consider one of the Senior Military Colleges, VMI, Citadel, Texas A&M, Norwich or Va Tech. There is also University of North Georgia but they're Army only.

Great educations and life changing experiences for highly qualified candidates the somewhat astronomical costs can be mitigated through ROTC and Academic scholarships.

Plan A: USNA, USAFA, NROTC Duke Vandy or Rice
Plan B: USCGA, NROTC USCal
Plan C: NROTC Tulane RPI or PennState
Plan D: Study language aboard for a year & reapply

Self/USNA/Duke NROTC/UVA NROTC
Plan B: reapply to USNA, BU or Holy Cross NROTC
Plan C: reapply to USNA, Norwich NROTC

DS:

My DS was accepted back in October to The Citadel..we have not put a deposit as of yet..we are waiting to hear about scholarships. Did you get that information early?

DS:
Plan A: USAFA
Plan B: AFROTC at Norwich (Type 2 3 year) or UMass (Type 7 4 year)

UMass will give him free room & board as well. It's awfully hard to pass that up!

If he doesn't make class of 2023, Marion Military Institute again then apply one last time, and if not then AFROTC or commitment to a mental facility, lol
@peppypea - my DS is at MMI this year too, didn't quite make the cut last year... was on HOLD until May something and then was offered a sponsored spot at MMI... fingers crossed he will hear something soon for class of 2023!

Self:
Plan A: USNA
Plan B: USAFA
Plan C: AFROTC (type 7) at USC, UVA, U-M, or BU
Plan D: NROTC (4 year) or AROTC (4 year) at UW or UCSD

Haven't heard back from any schools yet, very stressful!
