Snow day today in Annapolis

I got about seven inches and share the forest with TBS. Surely they are off as well.

And our backyard, from yesterday. At 0800 this AM, the sun is out, and all looks pristine. About 6”. We just got in from finishing clearing the drive, walks and the top/bed of DH’s F450 that lives outside. Time for Irish steel cut oatmeal from the slow cooker.

One or two of these per winter is just right for this area, and let’s be done by March. I am happy to leave all snowfall bragging rights to New England, upper Midwest and West.

That is more snow than many traditional great white north Midwest areas have received all winter.

My freshman year at my alma mater (Michigan Tech) we had 389 inches of snow. They threw snow into snow banks 7ft high and put plywood over the sidewalks to make tunnels. There was still snow on the ground when school let out for summer. None of my sons wanted to go there., even though it is a great engineering school.

So pretty. We got about 10”- our fist snow of the season in our midwestern town. My plebe said they had lots of fun outside on the yard last night. All those plebes who have never experienced snow before!! How fun.

My son's bestie attends Michigan Tech and loves it. He grew up on the upper peninsula so he is used to the snow.

The annual Ice (carving) Carnival at MTU is outstanding. I miss the snow. We have sunshine almost all year. It gets boring. I wish I were at Capt MJ's house today.

Me too. I'll bet she has wine.

My first winter in DC it snowed 26" over 3 days. This native Texan could only handle 3 years of the cold before returning home (40* today but 70* by Thursday). Stay warm! And Capt MJ, a slow cooker of steel cut sounds wonderful! Just needs a french press coffee with a shot of triple Irish cream;)
