RMI/Waiver Update Timeframe

My DS was medically disqualified and a medical waiver was requested by both USAFA and AFROTC. (The issue was knee pain in the spring and summer which never stopped him from competing in varsity level track and cross country.) Of course the waiting is hard but both USAFA and AFROTC said that DoDMERB will be updating the status in the portal so that he can schedule an appointment for a followup within 3 or 4 days. It has been since 12/26 and 1/3 and there are no updates in DoDMERB and the contact there said they have 30 days to post anything they receive to the site. The original doctor's appointment was not uploaded to the site for 53 days so another exam timeframe is REALLY nerve wracking. He has reached out to DoDMERB, AFROTC & USAFA and there is no change on DoDMERB. He understands that this all takes an amazing amount of patience but my concern is the timeframe. I just wanted to ask if anyone thought there is more he should be doing. I would hate for him to not move forward because he didn't followup in some way. I am very proud of him for navigating this process on his own. It has been great to see glimpses of the amazing adult he is going to be!

Schedule the doctor appointment ASAP just in case?
It has to be an appointment set up through DoDMERB. His doctor has cleared him and wrote a letter saying that the issue is resolved and should not stop him from participating fully in military training.

Are you sure it has to be scheduled by DoDMERB or just that they won't pay for it if you schedule it with your own physician? We have had to get remedials for both sons and always used our own physician. Obviously our experience is limited to our experience...

Here is what ROTC said about the remedial request:
This was requested through DoDMERB, meaning you will be provided directions on how to schedule the appointment and it will be paid for.

The email also said he should see the request and be able to schedule it within 3 days but is has been almost three weeks. Just not sure how much to push or to whom he should contact.

The request for an ortho consult never materialized after he sent over all of the supporting documents from his own doctor. He received a waiver today for AFROTC. His POC at DoDMERB is out this week but his AFROTC contact sent him an email to let him know. He also called DoDMERB and they confirmed but said it will take a little while to see on the status spage. Such a relief! Now just waiting on USAFA.

Awesome news. Congrats.
