I wouldn't say that's necessarily accurate, as least for Navy option. You could have your application in and ready for the September board, but not hear anything until late April. If you are not selected on a board, you are rolled over to the next board and reviewed again. You would be reviewed on each subsequent board until you are either awarded a scholarship or denied. If you are rolled over to the next board, you do not get any notification. Denials seem to start coming out in February and awards and denials are completed in late April.

Agreed, I had my application done in December, and wasn’t notified that I got the scholarship until mid Aprill.
 
Based on past years, I think there is a board going on right now that will release results at the end of the month. My status has read “no decision has been made” since early December!

I’d be prepared to wait awhile. I applied in Dec, and didn’t hear back until middle of April. It’s definitely a waiting game

Congratulations! Just curious, were you notified by email, or did you see a status change on the portal? (or both, I suppose?) Want to let my DS know where to look!
 
It seems that the first hint is in DoDMERB - I think NROTC begins that process before notifying you. Look for that. DS got an email that he was in the DoDMERB qualification review abou 4 days before being notified of receiving a scholarship. YMMV

It's generally true that the DoDMERB process isn't started until a scholarship is awarded, bit it is not always the case. I've seen a few exceptions each year I've been on this forum. But then you did say YMMV.
 
DD was notified via email that she received NROTC scholarship to her #1 choice college. She has not been accepted to that college yet so we are still in the "waiting" mode for that. Her first choice is service academy which we have not heard anything yet so it is great to know that Plan B is in place.
 
Yesterday my DS' NJROTC Commander said that the next round Navy Scholarship board would be "in a few weeks", so hopefully there will be some notifications for winners coming soon. Good luck to all!
 
Has anyone heard anything from the January board yet? I received a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship but I’m still waiting on NROTC and USNA. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who revived it already!

Personally, I have not. Can’t speak for others. I submitted back in late Nov, early December and status still shows as board ready. Pretty sure they will be meeting soon though. Good luck to you, I also received an AROTC scholarship.
 
Is there a deadline for transferring scholarships if I have already accepted the scholarship to my assigned school?

I believe you still have time to do so, but I would contact the other school's division and ensure there are spots available, then fax my transfer request asap before its too late.
