Congratulations! You are being offered a LETTER OF ASSURANCE (LOA), which is a Conditional Offer of Appointment. This means that if you complete the remaining requirements for admissions, you will be offered an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. Our records indicate you still need to complete items to become fully qualified for admission.

Application Status: Conditional Offer of Appointment LOA
Required Actions: None
Special Instructions: None

We have been working on a waiver and status just changes from required action- medical to None. Also has her noms and CFA

No update to DODMERB site.

Congratulations on the LOA...if nothing else is required you are good....wait for the link to appear to accept. I took this screen shot from my portal in January. I have since then accepted the offer.

Thank you. She has had the LOA since October but was waiting on a DODMERB waiver. The medical qualification is now gone so she was hoping that was the case! We will wait for the portal update before celebrating!

Just as the statement says, an appointment will assuredly be forthcoming should the candidate successfully complete whatever remaining items that are pending. This is the service academy's way of saying "We really want you!" In fact, they want the candidate so bad they realize that many of these high-quality candidates are lost to the "early admission" process at other universities. Imagine a USNA applicant gets early acceptance into the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League School! When that candidate looks at all the remaining pain-in-the-ass items remaining to finish their service academy application (that they didn't have to do for the civilian schools), the candidate often decides, "This is good enough! I'll just go to Penn."

Thank you- We were actually in the same boat. Accepted to Princeton but had a couple of medical waivers to work through. Without the LOA I am not sure we would have been jumping through medical hoops for the last 3 months. Still can't wait to see the updated portal though...:)

Congrats on Princeton; although, I prefer SAs more.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

What you describe is exactly why the service academies issue LOAs. As you say, you probably wouldn't bother jumping through those "hoops" with the Princeton bird-in-the-hand. Why bother going through all that hassle with no assurance that it may amount to nothing more than a waste of time? Now you've been assured that it will not be a waste of time. The LOA is having the desired effect for which it was intended.

She hadn't checked in a few days. Sometime between Wednesday and today.

Hadn't checked in a few days? Congrats on her restraint, that's more patience than most people can exhibit.

(And congrats on the acceptance, of course.)
I find it almost impossible to not check my portal every day, several times a day.

Our DD has the same. Basically you are in IF you get a medical waiver. Very good chance that your medical condition is likely waiverable, otherwise they wouldn’t waste their time on the LOA. Waiting for that appointment is still nerve racking! Congrats!

No update to DODMERB site.

Our DD got a LOA Conditional Offer to NAPS on January 16th, with Medical Qualification as the only Action ... (Audiological Retest for initial DQ ... Sent results to DodMERB and USNA Medical Review Liason last week) ... Yesterday, the status changed to:

Application Status: Conditional Offer To NAPS
Required Actions: None
Special Instructions: None

.. and there is the standard (I believe I-Doc Message) at the bottom in the DoDMERB area that says:

"If any illness, surgery, or injury has occurred since the time of your initial DODMERB medical examination, send details and substantiating doctor's statement to nomapps@usna.edu."

I hope this means she gets a Year to Grow stronger at NAPS?

Sounds like she is good. Now that she has cleared the remaining item to her offer for NAPS guessing it will change shortly. Congrats!

I never heard of LOAs to NAPS. But, I guess there must be such a thing. This is the first I've heard of it.

I wouldn't characterize an LOA as a "conditional offer" as one of the sentences that typically appears on an LOA is "You are guaranteed and offer of appointment if your remaining admissions requirements are complete." That's pretty strong language. The only "condition" is that the candidate complete the application process. There is no other condition. It's all up to the candidate as there are no external factors. It's a done deal. It's all up to the candidate to cash the "lottery ticket".

@Memphis9489 ... DD did get the Email stating what you have exactly ... guaranteed offer and contingent upon all actions. The Portal says "LOA" above the status table entry "Conditional Offer To NAPS". She had a missed Threshold at 2000 Hz in left ear, but Test equipment was 2 years over due for a Recalibration (we noted this on the original DoDMERB test, and sent to USNA and DoDMERB) and she was Tested again by two other Audiologists where the single 2000 Hz miss was under the Threshold on both. All parties have the results as of early last week. I think she would have gotten a waiver anyways, but retest helped. The original test was done in early September, so they have known about it for a long time.

Here "Required Actions" were "Medical Qualification" until yesterday, when it changed to "None" with No special instructions ... I hope this means the Accept offer Link appears soon in her portal.

I am confused, sorry 1st time through this process with my DD. As we wait "patiently" (lol) to see if she has gotten accepted to the USNA or the USAF I am wondering what is the typical method that a DD or DS is informed that they have been accepted by an academy? She told me to quit looking at these forums, but I can't help it, and noticed that some people keep looking at their portals. So I asked her this morning if she looks at her USNA or USAF portal and she said "no, she can no longer get in because they are now accepting applications for 2024"? Thanks, your typical nervous and excited Mom :)
