First Female Fighter Solo Demo Pilot

Well done, Zoe! She was one of my 4 digs when I was an upperclassman. She was a beast during training sessions. :)

That was incredibly fast, barely enough time to finish the first power point. The military can barely decide what uniform to issue in a span of a year, what can happen to be relieved of command in two short weeks. It probably took longer then 2 weeks to put that video together.

I must say that the comments following that article were hard to read.

Yeah ... I wouldn’t read those. I read a few. People are cruel, insensitive and/or stupid.

1000% agreed.

That being said, from an ADAF aspect impo it will be very hard to overcome this situation. Can we spell PRF, OPR? She is only an O3.

Not a betting woman, but my bet is she will be PCSd real quick to another assignment and maybe will get a P for her O4 board on a very good day.
~ Note that one article states:
She will continue to serve in ‘non-supervisory role’ in the Air Force’s 20th Fighter Wing,
~~ AKA she is probably at home on desk drawer leave until they figure out what to do. Think about it...non-supervisory role. The only non-supervisory role I know in a flying squadron is the FNG snacko. You can't be the life support officer, bc you have enlisted below you. You can't be in weapons. You can't be in scheduling. You can't be admin (SOF). All of these positions require you to supervise. Only a snacko has that position. Hence, why she is probably at home now while they work out her future.

She knows her AF career is basically over, so it will now be time to start to use her AF network connections to get a commercial airline position. (United, SWA, Fed EX, etc). Obviously she can handle the stick.

It is sad. I wish her the best. Maybe she got hit with the wrong end of the stick. It is what it is. However, as a woman I am kind of angry. We, as women must live at a higher standard than men impo.
~ No flaming, but I am old enough to remember Shanon Faulkner at the Citadel. I am also old enough to proudly say Jeannie Flynn Leavitt paved the future for Nicole "Fifi" Malachowski as the 1st female Thunderbird.

Too late I read them! The comments after the article were very depressing knowing I have a Plebe daughter trying to make her way in the military. She is killing it in really advanced courses, maxes the PRT and is often jokingly accused of acting too professional all while a varsity athlete. She desperately wants a challenging military career and to think her hard work might not be enough as there are still people out there with these ridiculous opinions of women who might be commanding her one day is disheartening. She says the male Mids she interacts with are very professional so I can only hope these opinions are coming from retired people, or soon to retire.

In another site I go to ... they are trying to say all women aren’t leaders. Pisses me off.

They should release enough info to indicate what happened so women in general aren’t set back imo.

For those of you worried about your daughters I would bet my career on the fact that whatever the officer did to get fired in 2 weeks would have warranted firing for a man, woman, transgender, heterosexual or homosexual of any race, religion or creed. There is no latitude at the O6 or higher level to survive EO/EEO, Congressional Investigations, IG or informal 15-6 investigations for unwarranted actions.

Inane comments are made by contemporaries to elders, no corner on the market. Don’t let the ones you see dishearten you or your daughter. In my personal experience, the majority of military folks care that you do your job, take care of your people, act with integrity, no matter what your exterior looks like. I have run into my share of folks like the ones who posted, but fewer and fewer over the years. Taking a view over the years from when women gained the right to vote, we have come a long, long, long way. Some people post because they are just mean and ornery, and they are looking for attention. Let ‘em stew.

Absolutely agree with you 100%, it had to be an agregious mistake. I was referencing the specific comments that were saying because the Commander was a woman you could see this coming and she had no business being in a leadership position in the first place, or even in the military. There are unfortunately mishaps, crashes and demotions often and we don’t hear the same comments related to men. Then the comments would be related to their qualifications or execution, not their gender. I’m really hoping Capt MJ is correct and that these types of comments are coming from a diminishing, isolated bunch.
