I just wanted to reach out Class of 2023 appointees and their families. There are several parent groups throughout the country that hold "Welcome Aboard" events for incoming plebes. They are supported through the USNA and offer great information about I-Day, Parents Weekend, and much more. Please check here for more info: https://www.usna.com/parents. For Central New England (RI, MA, NH and ME) please check out our page at http://pccne.usnaparents.net/home or email me at "welcome-aboard@usna-pccne.org". Our event will be June 15, 2019 at the USS Constitution Museum in Boston, MA

Thank you @NavyDadDD2021 for this. I have been wondering about all the great info you just provided. PS. Go Bruins! I’m a lifelong fan even though I moved south 2 decades ago. I still come up and watch them play every year

Any insight on groups or events that would include Illinois (we are not in Chicago)? Thanks in advance!

I went on the Usna.com site. It’s the alumni page. From there you click on your state map and it shows where the closest parent group is. North Carolina is a big state so there are several parent groups...I suspect the same is true for Illinois. Or maybe you can join one that is further away from you and start your own for your area? I’m not sure how that works. Also, your regional BGO will know where the closes parent group is if your having trouble. Hope this is helpful.

Thank you. Recently becoming a parent of an appointee has left me scouring for bits of information on this forum and the USNA website. I have no experience with any of this process and I'm up for the challenge, but connecting with a local community of parents would be nice.

FYI, due to privacy laws, the parent clubs are not able to obtain info for incoming plebes. You need to reach out to the club in your area if you want to be involved. We learned a ton from the fellow parents who's Mids represent all 4 years at the academy. They can answer many of your questions, explain the strange new language your Mid will be speaking, etc.

For any Oklahoma Class of 2023 parents that want to get info on the club you can email usnapcok@napc.usna.com to get included. Our Welcome Aboard picnic is scheduled for June 8th at the OK State Capital.

Thanks for posting this! We were kind of waiting to be contacted by our our state's parents club but based on your post, we took the initiative.

Not in my State, apparently.
At least 120 days before I-Day last year, my DS received all sorts of EMails from our State's parent's club, including a list of full names and EMail addresses of every Plebe from our State going to I-Day.
I received the EMails, too. It was obnoxious. I never responded. Neither did my DS.
Mileage varies. ;)

Interesting. I jumped right into our club and have learned a ton. Getting ready for the next group I contacted our BGO and he said they can forward things out for us privately but cannot give us the direct contact info. Seems odd yours sent it all out to everyone, but must vary state to state then. I was in the same situation as maxman007mom looking for info, and luckily I found the club info on USNA as stated above or I may have missed out. We’ve learned from upper classes, joined our local USNA alumni club for football games at the local pubs when we couldn’t attend in person, are working together for our next tailgater, learned what NOT to get freaked out about as a plebe parent and shared brag stories / learning about opportunities our mids can take advantage of. This Navy family is pretty amazing so far!!

Good luck, and get involved!
