Hello, I just wanted to post this because I just received a TWE for the class of 2023. Thank you to everyone here for the help and advice on the questions I have asked, however, this is not a goodbye. I will begin my application for the class of 2024 on April 1st when the preliminary application opens. I will end up at USNA, no matter what. Congrats to those who earned appointments and for those that don't, fear not because the only thing that can stop you from going to USNA is you.

Sorry to hear but glad you know that USNA is possible as long as you want it. Good luck next year and it shows a great amount of character to not let this years TWE from stopping you from applying next year. Thanks for sharing as well.

Also if you don't mind me asking, did you have a nom and medically qualified?

It sounds like you have a great attitude @Navyhopeful23 . There are so many remarkable paths to commissioning. Keep your options open and work hard in senior year. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

Nice post. You are obviously a young person with the kind of character that we need in the US Navy. Keep on it, and keep us posted!

Good luck.

Great positive attitude. What's Plan B for next year ? Do read the Sticky at the top of the Forum, it has some good gouge. Also, while its great to be aggressive and get the Application started ... I usually recommend waiting until you have some college under your belt before you write your personal statement and schedule a BGO interview. That way you can present a new dimension and stand out from the HS applicants.

Good Luck! I know from watching my DS go through the application process how dedicated one must be to get appointed. I admire your attitude, staying positive and I agree with Ty-rva - "classy post". But more importantly, how you handled this setback speaks volumes of your character and will serve you well through your lifetime. I'm pulling for you!

I wasn’t selected for the 4-year NROTC scholarship either but I will be attending my state university that has an NROTC unit and doing the programmer route. I know I have a lot of work to do and I definitely feel like I didn’t do everything I could have to be the best candidate but I will use this fresh start to set myself apart for next year.

Unfortunate news, but best of luck to you next year!! Grit is what matters the most. Also, how did you receive your TWE? Email? Mail? Portal?

I got an email stating that my status has changed and I checked my portal and said “Turned Down By USNA” with some text in the body of the email stating that I was not chosen for an appointment but recommended to apply again next year, the normal stuff. Hope you never get to see it but hope it helps.
