Appointee Events but No Appointment?

I just received an email from USAFA Admissions congratulating me on my appointment to the class of 2023 and inviting me to attend upcoming Appointee events. The only catch is: I haven't received an appointment. Has this happened to anyone else? I double-checked the portal and saw that my status is unchanged. Any responses on this situation would be appreciated.
 
I'd think this is an excellent development; one IT system probably just got ahead of another. I've seen this happen at other schools too--one Dept or office sends out an email assuming the update to the main admissions portal went out when it didn't. There's a million technical reasons this might've happened--I hope I'm correct and congratulations are in order!

Maybe call your Admissions Advisor to confirm?

Oh I hope it’s not a fake out and you truly got an appointment ! How weird , make sure you update us !
 
My appointment update on my portal was marked January 9, but didn't actually update and show up on my portal until January 15... I'd say that more than likely you have received an appointment and are in the system as an appointee, your portal just hasn't updated to reflect that yet. I'd say congrats!
 
Same thing here. Email today inviting son to appointee events, but no call and no portal update. For tonight we are assuming good news.
 
Something like this happened to my DS last year.
Before he was accepted to SLE at West Point they sent him some kind of form to fill out.
I am crossing my fingers for you guys.
 
Someone else on this board was saying there was a big batch of appointments coming between the 11th and the 13th. Sounds like you may be in that group
 
My DS recieved a call from his Congressman last year letting him know he had been accepted. The portal didn't change for a whole week. Even with the call he was nervous until the portal change.

Congratulations on your appointment!
 
I will just say that if you don't get an Offer of Appointment, that EMail inviting you to attend upcoming Appointee events is just plain cruel.

If this is the case and we did not receive this email, are we correct in assuming we are not in this big appointment group that is supposed to be coming out this week? Haven't heard of any others here saying that they also got the email for appointee events that have not received an appointment yet.
 
My uneducated guess would be that you are not correct. If a big group of appointments are coming this week and that email went to everyone it seems that statistically more people would have posted that they received the erroneous email.

I have thought about the potential of a big group of appointments that may or may not occur between the 11th & 13th as others have speculated. If it does occur this week and you are not in the group, I think that chances of appointment start to decrease. It's not impossible and its never over until the TWE but sadly I suspect chances do begin to diminish. If the wave occurs and DS is not in the group, our family is going to accelerate the visits to other colleges to try to soften the blow. Maybe in the end it does work out but just in case we want to start "hedging our bets".
 
My DS received this same email on Friday so we are waiting and hoping the appointment comes next week. It’s very confusing to get this and we don’t know what to make of it.
 
My DS received a phone call from his MOC on Thursday night that he missed, and we found out for sure about his appointment yesterday. We have not received an email. I'm like everyone else & still holding my breath until the BWE arrives in the mail or the portal changes! I would think the email was foretelling good news though!

its going to take more than a few other campus visits for my DD to get past the dreaded TWE. But I’m with you here do everything to get plan B solidified in their hearts.

Hey all, so update: I just received an email from admissions regarding Friday's email. Apparently the email was sent out to both appointees and LOA recipients. Hope this clears up any confusion for the other email recipients!

Same here. DS received the email in error. Got the email because he had an LOA.
 
My DS received the call Friday from our MOC with an appointment (contingent on our DoDMERB AMI that was completed last week) He hasn't gotten any email from admissions and his portal hasn't changed yet. He said it was the best day of his life as it has been his dream school since 8th grade! He worked so hard to get to this point
