Next appointment rush?

Appointments for the 13th have gone out and if we didn’t hear back, does anyone know when the next “rush” might be? Or if they’re just going to release them at a steady rate for the next few weeks into April? I know that the whole March 13th appointment rush may just have been conjecture, but I’m anxious to hear back. Any feedback or insight is very much appreciated!

My ALO said it all depends on your district. My district is supposed to hear back on the 22nd(along with some other districts)

Back in 2015 when my older DD was applying, I only remember a couple of big weeks. After mid-March it was a trickle. Then, around April 9, the big lot of TWEs hit all at once.

How are districts identified? By number? IS there a list of districts and which district is suppose to hear on the 22nd?

Yes by number. Also I don't know which districts.

Oh man....all the appointments posting today.... DS checked portal and nothing.... Bummer. He did get signed up for housing for the possible plan B (Texas A&M). Everything is on hold until he hears from the other plan B (Rice) scheduled to announce admission status on April 1. Hopefully he will have a choice and on April 2nd he will get everything moving forward full bore with the for sure plan B, whichever it may be. Checking in on this board has gone from exciting to a big ol downer. I do it less and less. And today seeing all the appointments was really disheartening; I'm not going to lie. Huge congrats to those of you who received one today. I do mean that. Just wish that DS as among yall. At this point we are just expecting the TWE whenever it comes. Really interesting how USAFA spent $1300 to fly him there and spent 5 days at the Falcon Visitation Experience and yet here we are, likely not to receive an appointment. What felt like such a slam dunk back in October when he came back from the FVE is now feeling like an impossibility. =(

Which district are you?

Don’t give up, stay at peace with the knowledge that your DS is amoung a very competitive group of kids and he is hanging in and holding his own!

Nobody is out of the running yet!!! I'm sure plenty more appointments are yet to be released, and there's still a little over two whole weeks left in March!! I am feeling kinda discouraged too that I haven't gotten one yet, but there's totally still hope for both me and your DS.

Sorry to post such a negative perspective, I agree the only ones out of the running are those who've received a TWE which I understand is very few. Just verbalizing the feelings of reduced hope I felt today after looking at the boards. One thing that does still give DS hope, the kids that were there for the FVE the week he attended have a group chat and none of them have received an appointment. Surely at least some of them will get in?? USAFA spends thousands of dollars bringing those kids out for the week. So there is that still. DS will need a medical waiver if they do offer a conditional appointment. So as time goes by I just continue to feel like it won't happen for him. Again... sorry... don't mean to bring yall down. I'm just feeling a little depressed about it. That said, these guys look pretty sharp, I could handle having an Aggie for a son I guess.

There seem to be many states that aren't represented by the appointment thread. And some are only represented by LOA and/or Presidential appointments. It ain't over till its over! Best of luck to everyone!

I thought about what you said and I sympathize. Waiting like this can be tough, it'd be better if they'd just rip the bandaid off on one day and tell everyone yes or no. But they can't do that because of the structure of the academy.

What does occur to me is that many of the people who have heard in the last couple of days seem to be principal nominees. I don't think we've reached the national pool yet. So if you weren't principal then you wouldn't have heard yet anyway.

That's how I'm rationalizing it for now. Plan B sounds good. There's more than one way to arrive at being a USAF Officer.

I have not received an appointment yet so it seems as if I will have to compete in the national pool. Could someone shed some light on how the national pool works?

I'm not sure how to know that those who got their appointments already were principals. I believe the appointments are released when each slate is resolved. Especially since people don't post if they were principal or not on the reporting thread. Sorry--I know that's how you were rationalizing it this way but I don't see how it works out.

If you look back through the posts of a lot of the people who have heard in the last couple of days several seem to be principal noms. (Not that I'm obsessively combing through everyone's posts for a morsel of comfort, oh no....)

It stands to reason that USAFA scoops up the LOA's first, and the athletes, then the principal noms (who they have to appoint if qualified) as they try to piece the jigsaw puzzle together of who is going to attend in 2023.

So I figure we are just at the principal nom stage. Sometime after that comes the national pool, then the waiting list (for places that get turned down).

It's a process.

Correct me if i’m wrong. When they look at these candidates, they do it bunch by bunch. When my ALO explained it to me, it was like they have X amount of congressional districts today(then so on and so on)

To me it seems to be slightly different. Turn backs from last year obviously here first, then LOA folks, then as I saw it and through people I’ve talked to, those who had their application done on or before 1 November (early action of sorts) get their appointments, then preppies and falcon scholars, and last but not least regular applicants. The only reason I disagree with your bit on principal noms is because I am a principal nom and haven’t heard anything yet.

Just remember that while we may be able to decipher a little bit, it doesn’t come close to how complex it is for admissions to fit everyone in. Appointments could be released everyday from now until 15 April, some of us who maybe don’t get in could still get an appointment for ‘23 before it’s too late! Best of luck to those still waiting, I feel your pain. I know it sucks when you see everyone else posting how they got in, or when your friends have their appointments in hand and you’re still anxiously checking your portal and your inbox.
