Need motivation

Well, we got the call yesterday from our son that he is in isolation with flu symptoms. He was ordered to the medical tent because of pink-eye, then sent on the hill due to a fever of 103. He called my wife and she asked if he had any prayer requests (beyond the obvious). He said to pray that he would get motivated to want to be at the academy. There's only a few days left of Jack's Valley so I'm worried that he would need motivation this late in the game.

Any ideas? Is he going to miss something that would require him to be sent home?

By order of the Superintendent, no cadets are to be turned back due to the flu.

As far as motivation, it sucks because he is isolated from his comrades with a nasty bug. Once he recovers and returns to his friends, he will do better.

Thanks Hornet. The good news he is sharing a room with one of his squad buddies.
 
That is really too bad. I know a few guys that have the flew and they are not having any fun (not that Beast is that fun anyway, but....). I hope that he gets better fast.

This is part of the roller coaster ride that you'll have with your cadet the first year or two. The highs and lows at times can seem extreme, particularly the lows, say after a rough exam or something similarly adverse, and particularly when they're operating on a sleep deficit.

They also tend to struggle when they compare their lives with that of their friends, and recognized that they have taken the hard path.

But time marches on, life slowly gets better, and if the fit is right, you'll be getting the call next summer saying that jump was by far the coolest thing they have ever done.

then realizing how long you have to go to Recognition.

Recognition (counts for both!)
Summers (jumping out of airplanes, flying gliders, getting incentive flights, etc...Two days ago, I went on a C-17 mission. I just got tackled by a police dog, while in the bite-suit :thumb:, and I have an F-15 ride scheduled next week.:biggrin:...oh, and I'm in Alaska.:rockon:)

Ya that is too bad. All that hard work that they put in to get in. But I hopefully that they get better and this will just be a thing of the past.
