Correlation between MOC slate submitted and appointment date

It's purely speculation but watching this forum I've seen many people who have waited months and some waited weeks to receive appointments.

What day was your nomination submitted(the date on the CIS) and what day did you receive an appointment?

Hopefully, this will give an answer to whether the admissions team goes in order of when slates are received or some other order.

This type of speculation and over analysis doesn't really accomplish anything. Keep in mind, If your MOC submittted his/her Noms early, Admissions still has to wait until all candidates on a particular slate have submitted their applications (Jan 31), and all applications have to be reviewed by the Admissions Board . Once all applications have for a particular slate have been reviewed, then Noms and Appointments can go about their business.

So the 60 people on this forum that received appointments from an MOC nom before Jan 31 must have had all 10 slated applications in early too. I think.

Does that mean that your entire slate has been reviewed if you or someone else on your slate receives an offer of appointment?

My DD was CPR around the 3rd week in December which is around the same time she got a letter from our junior Senator saying she got a nom.

She got her appointment the 3rd week of January.

I guess what I'm trying to do is give a real-world example of what others have been saying these type of queries in this forum. It's pure speculation because my DD also had a presidential nom. My suspicion is she got her appointment off the presidential nom, but we will never know for sure (and, frankly, it doesn't matter since the end state the same - an appointment).

Too many variables going on to determine correlation, association, or causation.

Many slates were probably submitted earlier this year due to elections. Those leaving office had to get their slates in before they left, which was well before Jan. 31. However, the fact that a slate was submitted "earlier" doesn't necessarily mean it was reviewed earlier.

Exactly, and for every rule there is an exception. This forum has a lot of speculation, fueled by individual experiences where one data point doesn't make a trend. I've been a BGO for over 15 years, and I will be the first to admit that sometimes what Admissions does puzzles me.

honestly i have to say that the Mods and the long time advice posters on this forum are literally saints. the amount of angst and overthinking around here (me included) has got to be hard to read year after year after year. and yet here you are, helping us all out, calming us down, resetting expectations, and getting excited for all the new appointments like its your first time here. Saints, i tell ya.

It is also possible that instead of giving the candidate an LOA, they got an appointment because they were already 3Q'd and any conditions would have been met. As OldNavyBGO said, it is useless to try and "figure" out the rhyme and reason.

  1. Step 1: Die. Unfortunately, the first thing you have to do to become a saint is to die.. ...so no saints' here
  2. Step 2: Servant of God.....5,000 posts
  3. Step 3: Venerable. ...5,00o posts and 7,000 likes
  4. Step 4: Blessed. ...7,000 posts, 10,000 likes, former BGO
  5. Step 5: Saint 10,000 posts, 13,000 likes, founding member, former BGO, heavy drinker, 15 time Army Navy game attendee, patience of Job, and out of your mind

+1 to @Old Navy BGO. This is what’s known as “a fool’s errand.” Yes, I know that waiting can be downright torturous, but there has to be more productive ways to spend your time and channel your talents.

To paraphrase the eminent @Capt MJ: Go enjoy your senior year, hang out with your friends, work out, work on Plan B, work with underprivileged youth and, perhaps most importantly, hug your parents and siblings!

If your dream comes true and you ultimately attend an SA, you’ll seriously wish you’d done more of the latter while you had the chance. Best wishes to all.

"Live by the gouge, die by the gouge."

Since apparently, there are dead people who vote, I would expect that a dead person could be a BGO
Hah! Since we're already off the rails here :topic: this reminds me of a story that Lyndon Johnson (supposedly) told. It involved two folks going through a cemetery to gather names for voting purposes. One guy skipped a grave because it was too hard to read the head stone. They other guy scolded him, saying "That person has as much right to vote as anyone in this cemetery!" :D
