Class of 2023 Boot memo out

Just a note. The Bates Durashock low quarters tend to get scarce as the month of May nears and supplies dwindle. The more common sizes can be hard to find if they will be your shoe of choice. The earlier the better.

.If possible, spend the extra $$ and get the Bates Durashock LQ's, and as stated above do it soon. There will be countless messages here in May and June saying how they can't find them. If you are close enough to WP, they had all of these boots and shoes at either the PX or the cadet store last year, as well as much of the other stuff on the required packing list. (not sure if that has been published yet). Have to bring the acceptance letter as your ID to purchase in those stores.

Just in case people get nervous...they are issued low quarters and boots too--so don't stress. However, it is early enough to order whatever you need and to determine if it is the right fit.
In pictures of #3 on R-Day, I was able to see that the low quarters he purchased from our local clothing sales store were too big. He survived. Same with the boots.
So, don't just buy them with your future cadet, ensure that he or she wears them around the block a time or two.

Just an FYI
DS tried at least 8 online retailers trying to find Bates Durashocks LQs. All are out of stock in his size/width (13/D) and telling him shoes are discontinued. We contacted Bates and they confirmed they have stopped manufacturing them for the time being. Placed two orders only to be contacted the next day saying - Sorry shoes have been discontinued.

Did you try Grainger? I know it is an odd place but I got the size I couldn't find at any other retailer there for my DS.

******ATTENTION*******

I have a pair of brand new, never worn, men's size 8 Belleville C390 Coyote color boots I would like to give FREE to a good home. If interested, please reply or send me a private message. Thanks.

We spent over an hour finding the Bates Durashocks in the right size. I got the last 12s on Amazon, and several other sites were sold out in many sizes. Then we looked for boots and couldn’t find the Garmont T8 Bifida II model... just T8 Bifida. Went ahead a bought them. Hoping the Bifida II isn’t substantially different!

I found the Garmonts on this website: https://uspatriottactical.com/garmont-t8-bifida-boots-coyote-t8-498/

It doesn't specify that they are Bifida II but it says they are "AR670-1 compliant for US Army wear with multicam and OCP." Seems like they should be fine.

FYI, I visited the USMA Post Exchange to try on boots and low quarters, and they were pretty limited in selection and sizes. I would’ve gone to the Cadet Store, however I was there on a weekend for another reason and it’s a trek.

The PX had the Belleville C390s and female FC390s, along with the DLATS general issue boot. They did not carry Garmonts or Khybers.

They also only carried the men’s durashocks—not a problem for 75% of the incoming class, but for the rest of us, it was better to find them online. I recommend visiting the Cadet Store if you have the opportunity, over the PX or simply buying online (boots all fit quite differently and you never know what is comfortable on your foot).

I just finished live online chat with Bates rep. She confirmed that both the E00112 and E00932 are out of stock in several sizes, with no projected inventory and are back-ordered until May or later. While she stated that they work hand in hand with the service academies, she was unable to provide an explanation as to how they could be on the West Point class of 2023 Authorized Footwear Memo and be out of production.

DS just accepted his appointment on 19-March. His portal does not show boot memo; does it take a few days for this to show up?

KA7: yes, give it two or three days for many of the forms to show up.

I have 2 pairs of Bates Durashocks that I bought my daughter that didn’t fit her. I would like to sell them if I can. E00769 -size 8 women’s and E00752 - size 7.5 women’s. They are both brand new. Message me if interested.

do you know if they all come in women's sizes? I'm a little confused trying to buy online

Just visited USMA PX today; glad DS tried them on as we'd have purchased a size too large. They did not have my son's size (9.5E) in the Bates and one of the ladies (Ms. Pinky) confirmed the Bates had no estimated time/date of restocking. She also said cadets would be issued the DLATS as their second pair of shoes and that Bates was making the DLATS. (Can't confirm any of this!)
