Ask Me Anything. I'm a Soldier Candidate (MN ARNG) for the Class of 2023, and as of today my admin kit is complete (besides the Initial Deposit and Computer/Tablet Preference). I've balanced full-time college and part-time/full-time work (most recently as a National Guard Title 32 Technician). I am a triathlete and prospective candidate for USMA's triathlon team.

It took a lot of people, questions, and research for me to feel confident in everything I was submitting to USMA, so I'd like to help out other candidates, applicants, and their family members on this forum!

Congratulations on your acceptance! I'm an enlisted soldier applying for admission to class of 2024. What's your MOS? Also, what was the most tedious/time consuming aspect regarding the enlisted nomination route? Did you get any MOC nominations in addition to your commander? Thanks for any advice!

Thank you!
My MOS is 11B. I'm in a mechanized infantry company and have spent time in several different roles between being a Bradley driver, Bradley gunner, and SAW gunner. This is only for my M-Day/drill weekends. As a Title 32 Technician, I am a Human Resources Specialist and was previously a Watch Desk Operator, both positions under my state's Joint Force Headquarters.

All enlisted nominations will be different. Having the Commander's Endorsement form completed is not time-consuming when your commander sits down to do it, but getting to this point is a subjective experience. My commander had me create a biography of my ~5 years enlisted career and interviewed all the NCOs in my chain of command before filling out my Commander's Endorsement.

I did not pursue any nominations beyond my Commander's Endorsement.

Please let me know if you have any more questions! I'm happy to answer.

Congrats on your appointment! DS is a college re-applicant and is a few states away so we are both working on this paperwork. I’m working on his immunizations now.. I picked up his forms from his pediatrician ( yes in addition ...I also need to move him over to an adult practice). I noticed no adult polio & no Hep A so we need to find a clinic near him to do that. My question now is, on the TB assessment tools. It says if you answer “No” to the first 4 questions then you don’t need to go any further. Just have Dr sign below, correct? It says “reviewer signature”....this is his Dr, correct?

Congrats on your DS' appointment. I look forward to meeting him this summer.

That is correct. The reviewer signature is your DS' practitioner. I answered 'no' on all four of those questions and just had my doctor sign below. They accepted the form without issue. I had to call and ask USMA about this because the instructions weren't clear.

Every experience will be different, but I had to get a meningitis booster because my last one was over five years old. I only found out about this after receiving no update with concern to my immunizations file after two weeks two weeks. The claimed to have emailed me about it, yet there was no email from her for when she claimed -- they might be having system issues. Ensure you call the Mologne clinic if you don't receive a timely file update.

HoneyBadger- Thx for your help! We did have Dr sign but good to know we should follow up with clinic. I'm glad I was not the only one who thought directions weren't clear (or maybe I was just overthinking it...lol). Now to follow up on Hep A and Polio...ugh.

Can we email the vision doc in or do we have to mail it?
Personally, I had the vision document faxed directly from my clinic. It was received and the requirement turned green on my portal within a few hours.

A bit of a cheat to the system (I don't condone this because it's not the way the instructions detail us to do this) is to click on the 'email' hyperlink in the Vision Survey box. If you send an empty message through your portal, a screen will pop up with an email address. I'd attach my documents to an email send to these addresses when I couldn't fax them and they were all accepted without issue.

Again, this isn't what you're technically supposed to do, but I didn't receive any complaints from those I emailed my documents to. In my mind, it saves paper and makes it so that those who are taking in my packet don't have to go through the process of scanning paper documents from the mail.

I actually called bc DS doesn't wear glasses so I didn't know if we needed a Dr to sign off saying no, but the tech on the phone said don't worry about it and she'd check it off as green on her end. I wish the rest were that easy! I uploaded DS soc sec card and birth certificate the other day too. The birth cert turned green within 24 hours but the soc sec card is still red (1 week ago). We will wait until mid week and will then call to follow up of that. Not sure if it's just a matter of the system catching up with all the recent activity & uploads or if I did something on my end. The rest is in DS hands and he has those docs up at school.

Make sure that you check your email regularly. They will often contact you if there's an issue that you need to resolve on your end, and email is the avenue they'll do it through. Check your spam folder, too!
