I hope so, I mean if you don't have a TWE then I think it would be. Then again, that also means appointments are running short too. I wouldn't dwell on it, I keep saying to myself maybe it means we're more competitive or maybe it means they haven't reviewed us yet. Either way, no TWE means you live to fight another day. I would be lying if I said the wait isn't bothering me though, just a few more days of pondering left. :rolleyes:

Given the number of applicants that the USNA has processed through its long history, it is possible that there has been a TWE to BFE reversal but, from my observations, not a common occurrence. If you look at past appointment threads, many "undecided" posters never return to update their status.
 
It is extremely rare. I haven’t seen one in a few years, doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. USNA knows it’s yield rate and factors offers off that. In years past USNA has had the highest yield of any SA. It’s also why they have a wait list where not all SAs have one. In years past the wait list was 100 candidates. They usually cut it within a few weeks after the May 1st deadline when they have a better idea of who has accepted or declined an appointment. They then slowly draw down the wait list as waivers finalize, yield is solidifying, etc.
 
DD remains CPR. No TWE. But speculation on the board is that appointments are unlikely for these remaining few, which I don’t understand at all. I hold on to hope for DD. I believe they are shuffling things around in order to extend offers of appointment to these remaining qualified candidates. That is my hope.

I wonder how many more people they plan on denying. I hope CPR candidates who haven’t received TWEs yet are guaranteed an appointment, NAPS, or waitlist.
 
I write this post to give some clarity and hope for all of those who are CPR and still waiting. I'm not an expert but my middle DS is a firstie getting ready for commissioning week at USNA, and I lived through his appointment process which was a completely different journey (he was a heavily recruited athlete) than my youngest DS who like many of you is CPR and anxiously waiting.

First, for my current DS (sophomore in college) who is waiting, this is his third time seeking an appointment to USNA (so I've lived through four application cycles between my two sons). He was on the national waitlist each time before but was not the first on his MOCs slate, so he was ultimately declined an appointment. To bring some insight as to when and how each of those happened, they were both triggered first by an email. On 3/22/17 and 3/28/18 respectively he was notified by email of an update to his application portal, this was followed by the dreaded TWE 5-7 days later.
His application was/is significantly stronger (absent the one sport distinction) of his older brother; three-sport captain and Letterman, president of the school, boys state, president of various other clubs, etc. His weakness per admissions was his board scores. Those have increased, and until this year he's never made it to the first week of April in the application process. My point is this if you or your DD or DS is still CPR at this point than you're in a small group that has a good/decent shot at even getting an appointment.

Secondly, most candidates who have not accepted their appointments have until May 1st to accept or decline. I have also read that USNA (I can't verify this so don't necessarily give it great weight) requires some of the early appointed to decide by April 15th. Also, another positive point of observation and encouragement, USNA extended the time to sign up for the Summer Seminar this year. I deduce that the dates weren't full. It also appears that there seem to be more undecided and declines this year than years past. My further guess is that the yield will be lower this year as opposed to the last two. So based upon four years of the USNA application process and anecdotal information along with my reading of the tea leaves is that if you're still CPR at this point- have faith.

Faith is all we have at this point. My son still a CPR with a presidential nomination the perfect humanoid ... but still no BFE or TWE. This is also test of his endurance and our faith. God Bless and Happy Sunday , GO NAVY

My son just got an email his portal
Was updated , he checked and still says CPR
My heart dropped but I won’t say anything to him until it’s official
As I have read someone getting the same update and 7 days later the TWE arrived.

I'm surprised he received an email on a Sunday. Is that correct?
 
We are surprised also he immediately said must be a glitch
He won’t admit defeat
But I am ready for a tough week
 
You know I wish I would have found this site when my son started the process, it has been an amazing experience but it has been nail biting. Not many parents can relate to what we feel during the process. I remember when he was received the nomination i was so happy but I cried all day when he went to school. I got scared the reality of how awesome it was yes but yet I felt this fear my child could go to battle if needed and for a second I was unsure.

Thank you again for this group to getting us to the end.
 
My daughter was slated first on her congressional nomination but still CPR. From what I have read here, slated first for USNA does not necessarily mean she will receive an appointment:(

the email he got last night said your portal was updated? he checked and it still said CPR. I have read that some have gotten an email saying portal was updated and nothing but then 7 days the dreaded TWE arrives. :( but my son is convinced its glitch because he got it late last night on Sunday?

I know it is gut wrenching... :( he too has the presidential nomination, as he said he killed this CFA (LOL), got high SAT score, all around athlete and we are at the end and it looks like no good. To think that fact our kids are among such great candidates is an honor.
 
At this point if we do not receive a call from our MOC, but do receive an email notifying us of a portal change, would that mean it is either a rejection or waitlist offer?
