Two weeks ago, USMMA granted my daughter a medical waiver and her application status has been saying "hold" since then. When will we know if she will be receiving an appointment/getting rejected? If KP granted the medical waiver does this mean she's certain to get an appointment? New to this military stuff. Will really appreciate the help, guys.

The service academy is the place that grants the waivers not DODMERB. It has to be initiated on from the service academy. And they don't go after those waivers for everyone because it is very labor intensive. So they are very interested in order to pursue the waiver on your daughters' behalf. It sure looks good for her!

Ok. Thank you. Fingers crossed! :)

To be specific it's not the service academy that grants the waiver. It's the waiver authority which in the case of KP is the Navy Bureau of Medicine. The academy will request a waiver for candidates they feel are competitive and then wait for the answer from the waiver authority.
So it's a good sign that a waiver was requested and terrific that it was granted! Hopefully you'll hear something from admissions soon.

Hold is pretty much just the waitlist. But to still be on hold, this late in the game, suggests good things to me.
Means they still want her, just figuring out how yo make it happen.
Hold tight with cautious optimism.

Alright, will do. Thanks for the advice!

I'd take it as a good sign. When I last talked to USMMA (while I was trying to get my waiver) they told me that they give waivers to candidates they hope to give an appointment to. Hang in there!

Yesss! Thank you!

Congratulations kpdadwannabe and Lovie98. Welcome to the Kings Point family. Hang on. The ride is just beginning! To those of you still waiting, I am betting we will have some more movement next week after the May 1 acceptance deadline. Keep the faith!
