I've seen several threads with people getting accepted into the AIM program. Has anyone been accepted into the program that is on the waitlist? My letter states I should be notified by June 7th, but if people are being placed, what's the purpose of the waitlist? Thanks

The Waitlist is to accommodate the filling of places of people who have been offered a place on AIM and then declined to attend.

i was on the waitlist for AIM last year and then did not receive a spot. this year, i have received an appointment to CGAS of EA and have accepted my appointment.

Thanks for the info, the information given isn't very good...

My son is also on the waitlist and we have not heard anything yet. Based on previous years, I think people could start hearing something soon. Good luck!

I believe AIM attendees have until the 7th of June to accept their appointment and return all forms so I would expect it would be after that when Wait List candidates are contacted.

DS has been on the AIM waitlist and received an email update from CGA yesterday informing him that he will “not be removed” from the waitlist.

However, he was encouraged to register for a fall 2019 CFAD when the registration opens up later this summer, which he will definitely be doing.

At least you got that!! I'm guessing we'll be joining you this fall during the application process.. Good Luck!!

My daughter wasn't selected from the waitlist, boooo!! She'll be applying in the fall!! Good luck everyone!

I hope things go well for your daughter. My son was lucky enough to get a place on AIM and will probably also be attending Genesis (as a first generation college student). It is a nerve racking time for sure!

Are they still making appoinments, my son is waitlisted and was told they are still deciding?

I saw not long ago that there were some spots available for Session 3...but that may have been attributable to slow/delayed acceptance or other factors. Good luck to all that are still waiting to hear. Out son is going Session 2 and he is NERVOUS/EXCITED/APPREHENSIVE all at the same time. He knows that it's going to be a more realistic taste of academy life and he's very anxious to see how he handles it. Other than one day at USAFASS, he said that experience was very relaxed.

He did comment on how many of the kids he spoke with at USAFASS were not really interested in pursuing admittance to the Air Force (or any other) Academy. A lot of kids he talked to said basically that their parents signed them up and they were there to "please their parents". That was very disheartening for me to hear. I immediately thought of the kids that were not accepted whose dream it is to go to ANY academy and would have basically done anything for the chance to attend (like our son). Sad to say, but I'm sure it's the same for some kids who actually go through the application process and get accepted to a SA only to realize later they're there for the wrong reason(s). We've all read those stories on this very forum.:(

When I dropped off my DS at a NASS, I joined a campus tour by USNA.

One of the parents asked several questions to a guide, which confirmed that her DD is not interested in SA at all.

Even the guide mentioned that the parent’s DD was looking for something else not SA. She agreed...

I was wondering why the parent sent her DD to a USNA NASS if their goal is not to serve the country thorough SA or ROTC.

Well, we can’t judge those people with this one incident but I thought that it should be better if an opportunity for a NASS was given to those who desperately wanted it for a long time.

Life is not fair. That’s why SAs require potential young leaders who can overcome this type of situations and dedicate to serve the country in any conditions.

However, I understand what “TexasAggie204” meant.
