Plebe Summer Undergarments

Does anyone know if USNA is strict about sports bras being white? Are black or navy blue sports bras okay to bring from home?

In addition, if we choose to bring our own underwear, are they strict on it bring white? Or is tan/navy/black okay?
 
USNA is very specific about undergarments for plebe summer. Read the PRT packet very carefully. That’s the last and best word, not anything you’d read here.

One thing to consider: gray for compression shorts or briefs to wear under summer whites. That’s the best way to not show your knickers. Contrary to common opinion, white undies show through.

Is there any restriction on the cut? I looked in the PTR and all through the forums and various published regulations but haven’t found anything.
 
If they don’t specify specifically, then no. But also use common sense. It’s hot in Annapolis in the summer. Really hot. And humid. You’ll be grinding and sweating and working and sweating and suffering and sweating. Keep that in mind when considering “cut.” In short, keep it comfortable.

Cotton is good because it breathes. USNA will issue sports bras but you are permitted to bring your own. That is one thing, IMO, that is worth bringing in limited quantities b/c you know they fit well. Family can send you more during the summer as needed.

Definitely keep "modest" in mind during PS for all sorts of reasons.
 
Agree with all stated above. If it says white bring white. Comfort is the priority while staying in regs. Bring plenty of your own sports bras. After PS you have lots more flexibility.
 
My daughter (recent NAPS grad said you will be issued sports bras & underwear for Plebe summer.

@moak .... Oh no. DD is very picky about these sorts of things ..... It's like Red Riding Hood and the 3 Bears .... she has to sample 20 of them to find the one that is just right. My wife and I are beside ourselves.
.
 
Everyone is equally uncomfortable during Plebe Summer. She will get used to it, quickly.

The PRT says only navy and black spandex. If we bring white or gray will they be taken up or will they probably be let us use them?

If the military tells you clearly “only navy and black,” why in the world would you show up with white or gray?

Think about it. If they let you wear them, you still willfully failed to follow orders. If they take them away, you’re now stuck with whatever they give you. Does either scenario sound appealing? Is that really how you want to start your military career?

I think I may have misunderstood when you wrote the part about gray or white compressions shorts under summer whites. I didn’t mean to come across as wanting to break orders. Sorry about that!
 
They would be fine under whites. Obviously they are more visible under the navy blue PT shorts. I really wouldn’t worry about it too much.
