USNA "MIDREGS" : Plebe Parents Reading List!

In addition to what Capt MJ has posted, under the FOIA, the linked page below provides all instructions applicable to USNA:

http://www.usna.edu/AdminSupport/instructions.htm

Normally, COMDTMIDN and ACDEAN Instructions/Notices concern MIDN.
The USNA and SECNAV Instructions/Notices is normally for a broader audience around the USNA complex.

Parents shouldn't read these documents. It is stalker like and unnecessary. Half of the things in Midregs are nonsense anyways and won't make any sense to the uninitiated. They hardly make sense to mids. The resultant questions are probably just going to annoy and alienate your favorite midshipman. Leave being a mid to the kid and just ask them how their day is going.
For the aspiring mids out there, don't worry about these absurd documents until you get to the zoo.

Amen, although I've found that once you're there it can be quite an interesting read. Thank the lord I found this gem:

3. Sunbathing
a. Midshipmen may sunbathe during Yard liberty.
b. Midshipmen shall:
(1) Wear regulation swim gear.
(2) Use an appropriate bath towel.
(3) Sunbathe on Hospital Point or the terraces adjacent to third, fourth, fifth, and sixth wing.
c. Midshipmen shall not:
(1) Wear civilian bathing suits.
(2) Use mattresses, blankets, or pillows for sunbathing.

Definitely an old favorite from the Midregs binder. Who would have thought that red beach was meant for tanning. If I recall correctly, the word hijinks is used in Midregs. This automatically makes it ridiculous.

Don't think it's actually in midregs. Definitely can be fried for it (and I know people who were).

Shenanigans are particularly frowned upon. Much worse than hijinks.

I read MidRegs going XC during PCS to USNA from Pearl Harbor via POV. Thought I had fallen down a rabbit hole like Alice.

Lots of nice gems in there. (We need an emoticon for tongue-in-cheek.)

I always liked SMT (not Sat AM training), as used by Dant's staff during hilarious reviews of weekend liberty misconduct incidents at the Monday morning DHM: Stupid Mid Tricks. Especially the kind fellow mids thought were stupid.

Any Midshipman who becomes pregnant, causes the pregnancy of another, or incurs the obligations of parenthood, must report the condition to their Chain of Command. Midshipmen who become pregnant and choose not to resign will be allowed to go on a leave of absence of no more than one year. Midshipmen who are pregnant or have incurred the obligations of parenthood and who fail to resign or request a leave of absence will be separated.

I could post a list of the various regs that I got some sort of waiver or special request chit for. Or we could just let it go.

Ditto. Everyone violates MidRegs. I violated this very one numerous times but I made it, sans waiver. Somebody needs to move on.

Only when a waiver is requested. Maximus, why do you insist on posting on this issue when the only thing that has come of it is unrest?

The whole point of waviers and chits is to get aproval for something otherwise against regs, anything can get a waiver or chit if there is a good reason or your good at BS.
