So, I was online exploring STEM and Lacrosse camps for my DS and came across this site. I found it incredibly informative and enlightening and appreciate all who have posted advice and their experiences. I put "way too soon" as the title because DS would be Class of 2029.
From an early age, he has wanted to be in the military, so we'll see how things unfold. Anyway, best of luck to all who are in the pipeline or awaiting a decision.

Welcome! DS wanted to go to USAFA since 7th grade. He is now in his C3C year there. It's never too early to dream :)

So that puts DS in the 6th grade, right? My DD declared in the 7th grade that she would attend USNA. And she did. So no, it ain’t too early. But make sure DS is spending the time fully exploring all options, both military and civilian. Minds do change.

Welcome to the forums. My son wanted to be a fighter pilot since I can remember and that is exactly what he did. Sometimes they change their mind and sometimes not. We are glad you are here and hope to answer many questions for you.

PS: My daughter is also a DPT if that is what your screen name means.

Correct. We're in the Atlanta area and he has been to Ga Tech for activities and I got my master's from North Georgia, so he has seen glimpses of cadet life in Dahlonega.

Welcome! I'm similar to your DS- I would be Class of 2030. I've been lurking around here and I have found some great advice, so I hope that you do too. ;)

That makes you about ten years old then? You already post better than some of the grown ups around here.

I was very much the same; it's definitely never too early to start preparing for the Academies.

Our DS, who is in knee deep in multiple SA applications now, knew when he was in 6th grade. He broke his arm in 7th grade, and the orthopedic surgeon suggested that there was no harm in keeping the hardware in. It would mean fewer surgeries, less risk, less anesthesia etc. I knew he was interested in academies has and it has been a discussion in our family as my dad is USNA '68, my grandfather '39 and a not known to me relative in the late 1800's. But I was a bit shocked when our son looked at the orthopedic surgeon and said something along the lines of, " Sir, that isn't an option. I am going to go to the USNA and I cannot have hardware left in my arm, this stuff has to come out". He is muddling his way through 4 academy apps now, and we are just at the beginning and it seems like a marathon. Hard to believe he has been planning for it since he was 12. @GONAVY3237 , never too young to have goals and a plan! Good luck to you, sir!

I'm just now seeing this. I first thought you are probably talking about me. Then I thought, nah, you're definitely talking about me.
