I actually spent 3 years in Naples, Italy...
Under the burning dumpsters and crazy traffic, I did see the beauty of it. However, I was lucky to be a dependent at the time and had the time and resources to enjoy our posting there. However, I can definitely see the irony in your statement. I can probably give you some pointers on how to go about earning a commission depending on your age. As far as Italy, I can also give you some ideas of some awesome places to see while on liberty or on leave. Give it a chance. Take the hydrofoil to Capri on a Saturday, tour the blue grotto, have a couple of glasses of wine with a friend at the restaurant that looks directly upon the grotto. Swim into the blue grotto after 5pm when the boats leave it is amazing (but be careful). Enjoy the beautiful gardens. If you are Catholic, attend a mass in Italian, if you are protestant: attend Christ Anglican/Episcopal Church in downtown Naples in Via San Pasquale...my husband and I were married there, beautiful church and the service is in English. You will be welcome. PM me if you want to know more. I would go back to Naples tomorrow if I could. My son is now at USNA. He was born in Naples in 1991...
