Hi all,

Ok so today I recieved a Pres Nom for USAFA. I guess im a little confused with what this means. I know that the next step is to turn all my forms into USAFA and hope/pray for an appointment. However since I have a Pres Nom does this mean that I am now elligible for an appointment at any of the Academies? For instance lets say USNA found me to be qualified..... could they offer me an appointment with this pres nom? Or would I need to have a pres, sen, or rep nom specifically for USNA?

If you are eligible for a presidential nomination for USAFA, you would also be eligible for one from USNA. You do not automatically get one, though. You still have to send in your parent's service information in to Annapolis.

It's extremely simple to be offered a presidential nomination to any of the academies. Make sure you don't rely on this nomination for an appointment, though. Hundreds of candidates qualify for presidential nominations, but each academy only offers 100 presidential appointments. So apply to every nomination source. :)
 
^^^ Very true, the SA's typically get over 450 Pres. noms, for only 100 spots.
As long as you qualify because of your folks you will get the nom, however being appt is w different story. Your WCS will be what gets you the appt.

Keep going for the MOC noms, Veep and every nom you are eligible for.

Theres a sample letter on the USNA websie as i imagine there are for the other SAs. It has the required info to send along with the letter. Like my Dads been active duty enlisted for just over 20 years so i had to send in copies of his enlistment and re-enlistment certificates to USNA. Its pretty simple really.
 
It is very simple, but you do need your folks on this one since they must prove that they are eligible. It is easy for AD children since the folks can get to their records quickly. A little more difficult for retirees, since they have to submit some more paperwork. A little but more difficult for reservist/guard, since they have to X amount of years to be eligible. All of the work is well worth it since you will get one more opportunity to get in.
 
It depends. My dad retired as a Major from the Air Force Reserves, so I sent in the letters on the AFA and USNA websites stapled to his retirement orders. He had the original in a safe deposit box, so I just made copies. If your dad doesn't have a copy of his records, you can get one from the National Archives website. Just click on "launch eVetRecs" to the right side. :thumb:

Is your dad active retired or reserves? If hes active than he has these ccertificates from each time he re-enlists, you just copy those then on an official letter head he prepares a staement, my dads was just from the system they have that displays all the enlistment dates and it was signed by his commanding officer but i think as long as the personnel officer does its fine.
 
He is retired reserve. But he was actiavted and was active for about a year.

You may not be eligible, reserves must have served atleast 8 years not sure if thats active time or not or retired and recieving pay and under 60 years old. thats what i got from the USNA site i would assume that all SAs are similiar since it is a presedential but yyou could check the USAFA site shuld be on there.
 
My dad served 28 years. He was a LTC in the 145th field artillary in the National Guard. He was reserve but for a year he went active for the war.
 
is he getting retirement pay? if he is i believe you only have to send in a pay stub.
 
I dont know if he is or not. But I know his he is getting 401K from them.
