Hi. Is there an admissions partner for Montana? My son is applying EA, but hasn't been able to meet his AO or visit campus since he decided after those had passed, so it would be great to have a local connection. We are new to this and not a family with prior military connections or experience. We are in Bozeman, Montana. And somehow raised a kid who LOVES water and the ocean ;-) Thanks!

Yes there is an admisssions partner in Montana. The person that interviewed my son came from the Bozeman area, I believe. Have you reached out to admissions? There are many opportunities to visit the campus. As soon as you get more messages posted, please feel free to private message me. I am in Billings.

We've emailed the AO this question and called the general admissions office and left a message with this question, but did not receive a reply to either inquiry. Also the HS counselor emailed the last contact she had as well and received no reply. We would love to visit, but my son was on an island all summer working at a camp, and now is super busy with sr. year and swim team, so the visit will have to wait since we are so far here in Montana. I will post a few more times so I can message you, thanks!!

Unfortunately we are a little behind as it was only recently the USCGA made it onto my son's radar as such a great match. But now he is super excited and we are making up for lost time.

If you are new to the process, your son might also want to check out the Merchant Marine Academy. If he loves the sea, he would love sea year at Kings Point. Many USMMA graduates go on to serve in the Coast Guard. Let me know if you have any questions.

Has your son opened a bears den account? and has he contacted the swim team coach at the academy?
Yes, his bears den account is started. He did not contact the swim coach. He just started swimming in his jr. year of HS. He's improving tons, but probably not fast enough for the team yet though. Would it still be a good idea to contact the swim coach?

Not unless his times would be competitive on the current team.

Not quite yet, hopefully by end of sr. year season. Thanks for the input.

FYI, I did end up hearing back from the office, which reconnected me to the AO, who was able to provide our admissions partner contact info. There is one right here where we live in Montana even. Thanks everyone!
