My DS received nom from Congressman Lamborn for USMA and from Senator Gardner for USNA. Never heard anything either way from Senator Bennet's office so assumed (based on conversations he had with other candidates) that he did not get nom from Senator Bennet.

Would anyone happen to know how many are appointed to West Point from each district in Texas? And has anyone been appointed yet from district 13? Thank you

You should check the USMA class of 23 thread. They might list districts. Not sure since it’s not recommended to give that much detail

Some Congressmen/Congresswomen release the names of those they nominated and a few months later those who have accepted their appointments. You can try googling your Senators’ or Congressman’s/Congresswoman’s names.

Some do this, but it is usually late spring. They may also include on their announcement every appointee in their district, this is the beware point. At any given time only 5 can be charged to an MoC, so some years they can have multiple charged, however, on their announcement it could have 8 or more names. The reason why is although the MoC may have nominated them, most of them would have been charged to other sources.

Many MoCs on their home page will have a tab regarding news releases where you can find out there too if they announce their list of appointees.

OBTW you can also use the search function here to see if there are posters from your district to see if they have been appointed. TX is typically what most posters call a spread the wealth state. IE, MoCs talk and usually will only give 1 or 2 at tops from the MoCs, because they have so many applicants.

Our MOC just started tweeting out various people she nominated. She has a little message with their picture, their school, a quote and where their nomination(s) are. She did two on March 1 and four on Friday, all various academies. No way to tell of course everyone who was on each slate. The whole thing seems a little strange. To me, it would have made more sense in the fall, after the nominations were made (she was very early). But I guess it's still pretty cool.

Great information here Pima, thanks! Wondering if Virginia could also be one of those “spread the wealth” states as well..

VA is without a doubt a spread the wealth state. Each senator can have up to 700 kids requesting a nom. Do not expect more than 1 nom.

That is what I thought! DD is extremely blessed and grateful!

has anyone here has experiences with ami beras nomination process?

I assume you have already researched this site:
https://bera.house.gov/academynominations

It’s thorough, provides all the essential info on required info and due dates, lists FAQs, notes an upcoming info night in September, gives his staffer’s name and contact info.

Perhaps if you had a specific question?

With luck, someone from that District will pop up with additional comments.

I hope you are applying to both Senators and VP as well.

I’ve tried to contact them and whenever I’ve called the person assigned to service academy’s hasn’t been there and hasn’t reached out.

What is your question? Though all the elected officials’ processes differ, many of the questions that are asked here every year are common across all nom sources.

For the assigned staffer, this may be only one of her assigned duties, or she may not be full-time. No question is too mundane for SAF. If you browse the dozens and dozens of threads, you’ll see questions of all kinds...”do the spaces count in the character count”...

It’s in regards to letters of recommendations and what should be on them, on the website it said there’s no template, but what information should be included?

Ah.

Letters should be from people who know you, your character and your achievements. Create a resumé with key stats and accomplishments in scholastic, athletic, leadership and community areas. That can be helpful to those writing about you.

It’s a letter of recommendation, so the writer is recommending you for a nomination to USXA - why? That’s the bulk of the letter. Read the USXA websites, every page, dropdown and link, so that you know what they are looking for in a well-rounded candidate. That should align with what your recommenders are telling Congressman Bera about you.

Consult your school guidance counselor, who may have resources and insight on letters of recommendation for this situation.

Browse threads here on SAF across all forums by using the Search box.

Have fun with Google - you might find a template on a Senator’s or other Congressperson’s website that would serve your purposes.

Does anyone know how competitive NJ (District 7) is for USNA nomination from MOC ?

I’ve moved your post to this forum thread. As a reminder to everyone, posts for individual state nomination questions should be posted here. Having individual threads for each state is simply too unwieldy. Thank you all for your understanding.
