I’ve read they like to see at least an 8 I think.I know the essay scores for the SAT USMA is looking for, but how about ACT? I believe I got a 7 and it’s out of 12.
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but DS got his worst ACT composite on the same test he had his best writing score. Should he forwarded that score because of the writing? All the other sections are lower than what has been already reported. Thank you!
Thanks for the info. He already submitted two ACT scores, so this would be a 3rd (and his composite is a full 4 points lower than the 2 submitted), and his writing is 2 points higher. I guess I struggle trusting the Superscore policy - like do they really only look at the highest in each section? We ended up having to do just that because DD had a 10 on one test with a lower composite, but she got her best overall test the next time she took it (but she didn't do the writing portion because she had done so well the previous test.) It is what it is. One thing she learned was that length matters! The first time she did the writing test, she worked to craft a great 5 paragraph essay (it wasn't very long) and got a lowish score. The next time, she wrote for both content and volume and improved. The last time, she did the above, but also was able to tie in an example from science history to support her thesis and received the 10.
