DS has me very worried. He is a social butterfly. He would much rather be hanging with his NJROTC buddies (both male and female) than doing anything else. His grades are o.k. They need to be better. He is rising as a leader already as a sophomore in NJROTC, and is on several competition teams and winning medals, but I wish he would spend more time hitting the books. Oh well, his grandmother was Prom Queen of her high school. I guess he takes after her. So, right now, I think he might be more well-suited to becoming a cruise director for Carnival Cruises, than an OOD Underway on a ship of the line. Hopefully, he will eventually serious-up without me having to hit him up side the head with a two by four. A lot of his friends are enlisting. That has me a bit worried. I am not against enlisting, but I see some kids doing it just because they are just sick of school and looking for adventure and not because they have a particular job or training they want to pursue in the service. As long as he goes to college later, I really have no objection to him enlisting first. If he does, he will join a long line on both sides of our family.
