DD received competitive nominations, rather than principal nominations.

Yes, she received a nom to USNA and a nom to USAFA from our congressman.

She also received a nom to USNA, a nom to USAFA, and two noms to USMA from Senator Harris.

She never interviewed with anyone from Senator Harris' office and did not receive any congratulatory messages post-nomination, or after receiving appointment offers from all three academies. We only found out about the nominations because the regional coordinator for USMA reached out to DD to congratulate her on receiving the nomination and to ask if she intended to complete a DODMERB waiver form that she had neglected due to her belief that she did not, in fact, have a nom to USMA. Then she checked her various portals and saw the extra nominations to USNA, USAFA and the second nom to USMA.

This contrasts with our experience with our local congressman, who offered congratulation on the nominations and on her appointment offers to USNA and USAFA. He also held a recognition meeting for all of the appointees in our district once the acceptance decisions had been made.

So, yeah, it was a bit weird to operate in a total communications blackout with Senator Harris' office. But the noms were most definitely appreciated and DD was extremely aware of the rarity of her situation and the honor she received.

That is excellent (and very interesting) to hear! Thank you for clarifying that the noms were to/for multiple SA's I can see the math now, lol .. ...it sounds like Harris had two cadet spots to fill at USMA (and submitted identical slates!)

Your experience puts me at ease, I am not going to worry about flying DS up to San Francisco anytime soon to interview in our hope for a nom from any CA senators. :)

GREAT information, thank you for sharing @FutureAdademyDad?! Maybe I missed it in an earlier post, but curious to know... where did your daughter end up going?

DS had his this morning. Two 20-30 minute interviews by a board (one for each Senator), separated by a short break. One board had 2 people and one had 3.
He said they were very straightforward, no real gotchas except why didn’t he apply for SLE.
I think they do about 170 today and similar numbers tomorrow. But I think this is just for north jersey, there may be another few hundred candidates for south jersey.
House Rep interview is on 11/23.
I didn’t go in other than to hold his folders while he went up the stairs (he’s on crutches for another 10 days).
On the whole, seemed like an organized and well-run process.
Good luck, everyone.

Any specific questions ( outside of what have already been posted in saf) that you can share here from the interview?

Quoting myself again for clarity.

I’ve moved your post to this forum thread. As a reminder to everyone, posts for individual state nomination questions should be posted here. Having individual threads for each state is simply too unwieldy. Thank you all for your understanding.

Our son had a good question, if someone were not interested or excited about Navy aviation how would you encourage them to be excited about it?
Also, 1st question was from a WP alumnus with DS's transcript in hand, "does it ever get boring having nothing but A's?" --caught him off guard, he said, Sir, it's stressful.

DS finished his last MOC interview today. What a relief, to be finished. He started this application journey in May, and finished today. Six months. I applaud all applicants for putting the time and effort into this process. It's definitely not like filling out a common app and hitting submit. Congrats to all of you (and especially my DS). :)

YES!! I have said before...whether or not an appointment is obtained, the process itself is one of growth, maturing, confidence building. The process itself is valuable!

My son's TX-25 interview is Saturday. I heard from one of the Texas senator's offices about 2-3 weeks ago that they had cut down from 800ish applicants to 200 at that point. Anyone else out there in TX-25?

I am very, very happy to report that DD is NOT in TX-25 with @williamsdr3 's DS! haha!
Her post of 200/800 refers to one of the Senators, not their MOC.
Finding info is a bit like a needle in the haystack; from prior threads, I found:
"12/15/17 email from Cornyn
12/18/17 telephone call from Cruz"
....so mid December in the past; I have 12/16 marked on our calendar with a big "Sen Nom?" written in that day.
Our MOC coordinator emailed DD (11/12) and said the district director would be mailing out interview dates, and to let him know if she doesn't get something in the next couple of weeks.

Wow, 200 from one district? I think we have 800 statewide in NJ. @Old Navy BGO i think you are in NJ? Am I correct in that statement?
I'm the BGO on there that is from NJ and we had close to 350 for Senatorials and there will be stragglers such as college students who will push us well over that number. In my district, we had over 50 total for all academies and was told that we and an adjoining district had the two highest numbers of total applicants and that was a repeat of recent years. Of our 50, the largest number was USNA and the smallest of the big three was USAFA.

If your child received a congratulatory letter from their Congressman stating that she was part of their slate of nominees, then does she have a MOC nomination? Or is one only considered to have the nomination if the Academy chooses your child from that slate of candidates? Thanks!

Yep!! Congrats!!

Sorry, I got your call sign wrong! Thanks for the info. I had thought 350 was just northern or southern NJ since the interviews were over two weekend, but thanks for clarifying.
