I’m an AROTC scholarship applicant and I have already submitted my PMS interview. However, I would like to get in touch with other PMS at my top schools in order for me to get to know their program and, more importantly, for them to get to know me. Is this something applicants do, or would I be wasting their time?

It is definitely something you should do.

While not required, one of the deciding factors that should have made you put a school at or near the top of your list is because you know the what AROTC program is about and want to be part of it.

If you’re a scholarship winner, many schools (even the ones not on your list) will send out a email to you selling their program. They ask you to come out and talk to the cadre and current cadets. A handful of PMS will even offer to write a LOR for you as part of the app to the school.

Thank you for your prompt response. I agree with your statement and I will reach out today!

Is it to the ROO that one should write or to the PMS?

Either one is ok but the ROO may be better. It’ll be the ROO anyway who scours the list of who put the school on their list and will most likely reach out first to the applicant.

My DD had both ROOs and PMS “cold email” her after the results of the first board came out.
