It appears that we now have at least one appointment for the class of 2024, so it seems appropriate to add the self-reporting appointment thread.

HOW TO ADD A NAME: This is self-reporting, self-updating and DIY. Mods don't update the list (kindly posters occasionally do, but the burden falls on posters). Please copy the most recent list, paste into new post, add a number, enter your information in a similar format, post.

FORMAT:
xxnumber) SAF forum name / Self, DD, DS / LOA or No LOA / Date Notified of Appointment / Accepted, Declined, or Undecided / State / Nomination Source(s) / Direct Appointment, Prep School, College Re-Applicant, Etc. (items that are perennial topics)

SAMPLE:
1) GoArmy2024 / Self / LOA / 24-Oct-2018 / Accepted / NY / Congressional, Senatorial / Direct Appointment

Which district are you in?

The moderation team recommends not identifying individual districts in any posts in order to protect anonymity. Once an individual is tied to a district it becomes easier to identify exactly who they are. Remember, everything you post here is visible to everyone, whether a member of the forum or not.

Has anyone heard back in Illinois from Congressmen/Congresswomen or Senators?

If the timeline is the same as last year’s, then you should hear from both senators within the next week. Last year, my DD heard from both senators right around 15 December. Maybe one was first week of December but both sent notices definitely a few days before Christmas. Hard to remember at my old age.

Of course, even though incumbents try to keep the process the same from year to year, it is still possible that notification dates change can change from year to year.

USAFA & USMA both LOA! Congrats!!
Strong candidate! Could you share some your timeline and experience?

DS completed SA applications & SA interviews this past summer and attended SLE and NAS; Sen/Con/VP nomination applications were completed next and then tri-service ROTC applications as PlanB. Lots of time/efforts upfront so that all that was left when senior year began were the ROTC and Sen/Congressional interviews...

You indicated the Presidential nomination above. Did you ever hear from those Senator/Congressional interviews? Just curious about how the Presidential nom. works and how that impacts the MOC interviews and lists.

My DD has a Presidential nom during last year’s cycle.

It didn’t affect her MOC interview (only the rep interviewed). She still got noms from the rep and senator. She also applied for a VP nom.

In the end, we found out another applicant’s appointment was charged to the rep and my daughter’s appointment was charged to the Presidential nom. This was for the USMA.

For USAFA, she got her appointment with only a Presidential nom on file. She found about the USAFA appointment on 1 December which was the same day as her rep interview. She told the panel but they gave her a nom to USMA and USAFA anyway.

For USNA, not sure which source was charged her appointment. She had a Presidential and senatorial nom on file.
