Hi - congratulations on being accepted into the Honors Program. I am a volunteer for the Admissions Office and live in Delaware, so I cannot tell you specifically what there practice will be this year. But in year's past they sent out letters to award recipients. The nice thing is you should be able to call the Admission's Office this week with questions like that. They are open all this week and maybe next week till Christmas Eve. Trust me - you will not be alone in asking that question. They may not be able to tell you specifically what you have been awarded as all decisions may not be final. However, they should certainly tell you how you will be notified and approximately when these awards are made. If you don't get an answer, please let me know and I can bug them without telling them who is asking. Sometimes the office gets busy and may seem inconsiderate, but it is not personal, this is their busiest time with hundreds of applications still arriving.
However, and this is important to know - if you were told you have been selected for the Honors Program, unless they have changed their policy this year, my understanding is all Honors Program participants do qualify for a minimum merit scholarship award. In years past this amount was about $10,000/yr. Typically they select the top 25 students in each entering class for Honors Program. Depending on your HS GPA and standard test scores and which major you have applied for, you may qualify for higher amounts. I know of two female applicants from my state of Delaware who were offered tuition discounts amounting to 2/3 of out-of-state tuition or about $22,000 last year. One is a 4th Class Cadet this year. The Honors Program award would be in addition to any financial need aid you receive based on family income. As to your question whether there is one out-of-state scholarship for females - I seriously doubt there is any institutional limitation based on gender - The Citadel is a public college. What you may have heard is that the full ride scholarships (these pay all tuition, room & board, fees, books, etc., about $50K for out-of-state cadets) are limited and that last year only one out-of-state female received one. There are only 8 full ride merit scholarships. Out of 750 entering 4th Class Cadets, females made up 13% of that class, so only one out-of-state female award may be reasonable. But I cannot immagine there being a gender criteria.
