Given the earlier January 31st deadline, does anyone know when the first big wave of appointments may go out for non LOA applicants? I remember Admissions posting a photo years ago with bunches of BFE’s in the back of van headed to the Post Office.

One of the great mysteries of the universe for those on the outside looking in.....and waiting.....

My guess would be a small wave in February and a larger wave in March. Remember the application deadline, if my memory serves, is the end of Febrary. Some, if not many, slates will not be resolved until then. Just one man's two cents.

This year the deadline for the USMA application is January 31st so it is quite a bit earlier than in years past.

Seems like they are already rolling out

The USMA 2024 appointment thread only has LOA recipients on it...? Unless I’m missing something.

Yes and all that have posted have LOAs according to the thread

First WAVE traditionally is a mass mailing appointments of 500 Cadets (regardless of LOA or not; doesn't matter).

I have not seen any hits or info concerning the pending arrival of First Wave... just individual scattered appointments.

If ppl can site their sources of arriving First Wave... would be great. :biglaugh:

Here is prior waves in previous years:

We hear it will be the end of January for the first big wave. There are not other waves but rather a weekly outflow of appointments that ends around 1 May.

Just to be clear. All 12 reported say LOA, not LOE. They are not the same thing. LOE has no bearing on admission in the way LOA does. Also, in the past the Total number of appointments reported on this site are about 10% with those numbers increasing a little on the last few years. That said, initially the percentage will be higher because many of the LOA recipients are on this site and many of the first wave appointments will get reported here. So in the next month or so we will probably see a higher % of appointments reported and then it will taper off (the reporting, not the appointments). So figure there are well over 1,000 more appointments to come...

From a reliable source: My DS and I attended an all academy briefing on Friday night. We met the USMA Director of Admissions, Colonel McDonald, face to face. She indicated that she has reviewed the prep scholar applications and expects the next appointments to be released at the end of January (meaning 30th-31st). She also said Class of 2024 will be capped at 1240. ⏳
