I am currently working on myEagle Project while simultaneously applying to the AFA. I anticipate it being completed by early October and anticpate that I will receive Eagle by early November. I have put "anticipated Eagle Scout" on my resume and application.

If my time frame turns out to be true, will it factor into my admissions process?

Thanks.

When I applied there was a box for Life Scout. So, you have some credit going into your WCS automatically. I think they would also factor your anticipated Eagle Rank (not positive), but you can easily update your file when you make Eagle.

Congrats on getting (almost) Eagle. That is a big deal and you should be proud of yourself. Good Luck on your project (and all the paperwork after it). Welcome to the Eagle Scout club.

Later,

P.S. When is your Board of Review?

Eagle Scout is a huge achievement!

One to be very proud of and one that must MUST be reported to USAFA the second you are "awarded!" And by awarded I mean: "acknowledged that you have met the requirements and will be so honored."

Don't wait until they have the Eagle Ceremony...that could take months.

Nope, this is one of those biggies that we like! :thumb:

Congrats on makeing it this far. Now finsih up! I had 5 friend to to service academies lastyear and 4 were Eagle Scouts or Cheaif (the apparent Sea Cadet equivalent) or both. So I am sure it will make some sort of difference.

P.S. I am an Eagle too. My avatat pic is the face a a Command cion given to me at my Eagle court of Honor.

Eagle Scout

Congratulations on your upcoming achievement of the rank of Eagle. Remember, the date on your Eagle Scout Certificate is the date of your board of review :thumb:

Thanks everyone for all of your encouragement! I hope to receive Eagle as soon as possible!

Don't send in your application until early November. My ALO told me that they don't look at the applications very much until November anyways. Good job though.

If your ALO told you that they don't look at applications until November; then your ALO is completely wrong. I know many individuals who received LOAs and APPOINTMENTS at the end of October and the first days of November. Obviously, they didn't have their applications looked at "After the fact". I'm sure your ALO means well, but they are mistaken. The applications start getting looked at; if they are 100% complete; the first part of September.

If your ALO isn't a BRAND new one, then he/she needs to reconnect with their LOD and review the process.

Christcorp is very correct! The packages are being reviewed now...by counselors, ALO's, etc. The first boards will meet VERY soon...

Waiting until November...that's up to you. But if you have all the required information now, why wait?

Flieger, thanks for reminding me to ask this:

I submitted my request for secondary school transcripts, form 146 if I recall, to my counselor last Monday. My school doesn't start until the 8th this year, one of the latest in the state, and I was wondering if the USAFA board would review my app even though my transcripts are not there. Everything else is in, but knowing my school for over 10 years as procrastinators to no end, I fear my request may be shuffled to the bottom of their pile.

I don't think so. I think they only look at it if the app is complete, with the exception of CFA, DoDMERB, and nomination.

As PDub mentioned, your application has to be 100% complete or it won't go in front of the board. One correction however; your CFA also has to be completed. The ONLY thing allowed to be "Waiting" is a nomination and your results from a DODMRB. Everything else must be 100% complete or it just sits there waiting. That is the way the air force does it. Obviously, other academies can do it differently. I.e. The army can give out LOA's without an application being completed. They do it all the time. That's how an individual can get an LOA to west point in August.

Anyway; your school may not be open for classes right now, but the school itself is open. And there are individuals working administrative matters. I would politely, but insistently go to your school and have them send your transcripts. It's actually easier for them to do it now, than after school starts and they are dealing with hundreds of kids trying to change their schedules. March over there and politely move things along. Bring another set of forms in case they "Misplaced" the originals. Take charge.

Your package would be reviewed for completeness but until the transcript is there, it can't go before the selection board.

So they'd hold it for the first board AFTER your transcript is there.

I dropped off the request sheet last week. I'll stop by today and check on the progress.

Going a little off topic, but should I staple my nomination app from my MOC or just leave it loose?
