This thread is for prior enlisted Airman to discuss and answer questions for applying to USAFA's class of 2024.

How did your application go?

(edit - 2025 to 2024, apparently I am still confused on what year it is)

Just finished my application this week (way too close to the deadline). Does anyone know when the board meets and we get a decision?

Yes I was told from one of the regional advisers that for Airmen they will try to "grade" them together around the first week of February.
And like you my application was also last second, sometimes leadership can be difficult to navigate lol

I resonate too much with the two posts above me. Finished my application at the last second as well!

Does anyone know if any enlisted receive an LOA or are we just on the anxious waiting game? Would be nice to plan out the leave :)

I've never heard of it happening. I'm fairly certain our packages are all reviewed at once. The information is difficult to find because only a couple hundred airmen apply each year.

Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone has any new information regarding the LEAD side of things. Any news for us anxious Airmen out here?

I got contacted by my admissions advisor, she mentioned that the lead applications are going to committee next week, the next step after that is the board review I believe.

ClassAppt date for first LEAD appt reported to the forum
20238 March
20228 March
2021(none reported)
202018 March
201930 January
201826 February
201714 November (but then the next reported one was 10 May)
Thanks for the info AFrpaso. 2019 had a crazy fast turnover.

Is anyone else going to have to apply for a TOS waiver? I'm not sure how worried I should be about it, I PCSed to my current base in July. Has anyone heard of this waiver getting denied?

I have heard of a few cases, and they all went smoothly. I'm sure you should be fine, and if you have trouble, you may want to contact your prior squadron to vouch for you.

I am currently going through the process of acquiring a TOS waiver. Just a heads up, this is a bit of a story. I PCSed to my base in June, so around the same time as yourself. Upon hearing that I would require the waiver, I immediately went to my section chief. She was extremely helpful with finding information about the process. She found a template that my Shirt had made a while back, based off of Assignments in AFI 36-2110. The waivers and exceptions section within this AFI provides guidance on the process, which can be very vague. I have not heard of this waiver ever being denied.

Upon contacting the waiver authority, I was told that I would need verification that I had received an appointment before I would be given a waiver. The problem with this is that USAFA Admissions requested the waiver before the deadline of January 31st, 2020. Upon finding this discrepancy I contacted my Admissions Counselor and told her all of the information that I had gathered. She contacted a person that worked as an Admissions Reader, and I was given the recommendation to complete the application. She said that once my application is found to be complete and competitive, I would be given instruction to pursue the waiver.

I can provide the template that my Shirt provided, but I will have to wait until Monday when I can access the network. That is a lot of information, and I hope I can help you out! Just let me know how things go and I will provide the template.

That template would be extremely helpful! I'll message you my email and you can send it to me there. Nobody contacted me about my waiver until yesterday, and no one in my direct chain of command seemed to know much about it. I'll have to go back into the afman for a little more information

On the topic of LEAD, will we be able to see our admission results on the portal or will our commander be the first one notified? Hopefully this will allow me to not check my portal everyday lol! Also good luck to all other LEAD applicants. Aim high!🤙🏼

Your commander is notified before you are. Good luck!
