So just for clarification, all admissions decisions are made by April 1st, but appointments can be offered before this time; is this correct? Additionally, are most appointments released before this date, or on this date? Do sports play a major factor in getting an appointment before the deadline?

The deadline is April 1. You will hear by then. Could be earlier but definitely by April 1.

And offers can be made after, too, if there are folks who don’t accept. I had a former student who received an offer two weeks before needing to report....and they hadn’t even applied to USCGA. (Using “they to protect identity of this student.) USCGA got the student’s name and info from USAFA after TWE there. Great non-athlete student. Crazy, huh? Ended up loving it and was highly successful there.

The service academies do not "share" candidate information/records with each other and we [CGA] maintain a wait list to fill unexpected vacancies in the class which occur after May 1st. How would this story have even happened? Did USAFA simply offer up this candidate to CGA or did CGA ask USAFA for a good candidate that they weren't appointing? Just to be clear...if someone was appointed to CGA, they applied to CGA.

Is it possible USCGA asked “they” to apply after asking USAFA for a good candidate they weren’t appointing? Perhaps an app was filled out but very late in the game?

I really doubt this was the case. If that actually happened, then the selection process becomes unfair if someone who had not actually applied was selected over many applicants who did apply. It is just hard to believe in my opinion.

Applications are only accepted until the published deadlines, so a late app is not possible. Can an applicant be notified of an appointment late in the cycle? Yes, so it is feasible "they" could have been notified a few weeks prior to reporting, however, "they" would have been on the CGA waitlist. Perhaps this is a case that happens often where the application story takes on a life of it's own, as occasionally applicants embellish their journey, or it could be the story was not relayed accurately (think the "phone game").

If Objee says it didn't happen, take that as gospel...Objee is Admissions at CGA.
