I am a HS senior and I want to fly in the military. To keep things simple I know that the Marine Corps has PLC and you can get a guaranteed aviation contract. I also know it is possible to get selected as a pilot with AFROTC. Is it possible to be in both at the same time and choose one before I am locked in for commission with AFROTC? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really just curious... How many girlfriends do you have?:D

You really shouldn't include your name, assuming Dom is your name, in a post. It's best to remain anonymous here.

You did and I dont know the answer. It seems unlikely to me but I'm just guessing.

I know you dont contract with PLC until you graduate, and I think that's optional. AFROTC you may or may not be contracted depending on your situation. If contracted to one I dont see how you could pursue the other.

What's the real issue you are worried about that keeps you from deciding between the two?. You do realize they are different missions and cultures, right?

I am almost positive you cannot do both. as @kinnem said, very different missions and cultures. Are you indifferent to branch? If so, talk to both and see which one feels right. Both branches are working hard to increase the number of pilots.

They would conflict over the summer so I don’t think you would be able to do both. I agree it makes sense to be in both to keep your options open for a pilot slot but I’d recommend really asking yourself which branch is right for you. You probably already know this but being a pilot in military is not all flying, you should not join just to fly.

@Football_2626 +1 to LATS. You need to pick a service with multiple jobs you enjoy. Even if you get a PLC aviation contract it only guarantees you a slot at flight school. Many people dont make it through flight school. What do you do then?

Also do your research. The Marine Commandant intends to decrease the size of the Corp's aviation component. You can find articles via Google and threads on these forums that discuss this.
