Hello! I've been appointed to the class of 2024 and would like to order my boots/low quarters as soon as possible. Where can I find the boot list? Is this something that will be published to my portal at a later time? Thanks!

It will be in one of the portal documents.

Don't jump the gun and buy boots until you have the authorized list - USMA is very specific about what boots can be worn and the list can change from year to year.

Check out the attached for the USMA class of 2024 shoe order form.

Are the reebok boots newly allowed this year? Anyone have experience with them over the Khyber Hybrids?

They were not authorized for Beast last year.

That's what it seems. They're a good deal cheaper than the Khybers and the Garmonts. I am curious to see if anyone has any experience with them.

Are the Khybers any better than the Garmonts?

Here at USMA both are very popular brands. I recommend buying (or trying them in-store) both seeing the fit/comfortability(everyone's foot and walking motion is different), then returning the least preferred one. I personally use Garmonts.

My daughter tried both. Liked the Garmonts. She has a pair of Reebok boots too (although I have no idea if they are that model) and doesn’t recommend for out in the field.

Don’t really know if they are better.

I'm still confused about the boot process. I know that the "the boot memo" is out, but how would one find it? It's not in DS's portal that we can find (yet?). I see @WP2024 posted the "Class of 2024 Shoe Order Form" but I am not sure where it came from, how we would have found it on our own, or even if that is the same as the Boot Memo.

The instructions packet in the portal says that you can take the Memo (the Order form?) and order the boots, paid for by AAFES, to break in ahead of time. So, DS would (theoretically if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic) go somewhere locally to the try on the options for comfort and then order the free ones (if they are in stock) to break in and take to R-day?

Also, can you buy other boots not on the order form that are AR-670-1 compliant at your own expense? Thanks in advance. Sorry for many questions!

Shoe order form is same as what is referred to as boot memo. For Beast you are only allowed the specific boot models listed on order form not any AR-670-1 boot.

Thank you. How would we have found that form? DS accepted appointment in early February and there is still nothing relating to a boot on the portal.

The cadet store is currently closed as they are dealing with the COVID situation. Even if you order boots now they will not fill the order until they are reopened. Source: email they sent me today

Someone already said it, but best bet is to try them on. Just like running shoes, people can have a different boot fit that they'll find comfortable. I wore Khybers for a couple summers; they're comfortable and decent weight with good ankle support. My issue was their durability; I seemed to end up trashing them fairly quickly (1-2 summers) and needed to find new boots.

It seems that only Garmont BFIDA's are listed for the Garmont brand. I'd err on the side of caution and go with those over NFS's.

The official boot letter (not the order form) was posted today on the portal. It looks like this year any AR 670-1 hot weather boot will be acceptable.

How do the Garmonts fit?
Big? Small? True to size?

I am personally a 10.5, what what you reccomend?

Thank You.
