AROTC Scholarship Board - Week of March 23, 2020

Question, has anyone been boarded and not received any calls or email from any program congratulating them?
I think this board is a little different because everyone is at home with extra time on their hands.

Is there any chance of a four-year scholarship in the third board? I have read that it is mainly if not all just three-year scholarships.

My son has been "Boarded" since last week and not received any communication from anybody.

And now I'll throw a coincidental curve ball into the mix. Late this afternoon my son's #1 school (a SMC), to which he has been accepted, sent an email informing him to be sure to inform their financial aid office of any outside scholarships he receives. I'm sure just a coincidence, but the timing is impeccable. . . .

USF has an okay rating but is right in the middle of San Francisco, and I am not sure how supportive this environment would be for AROTC cadets. This is probably why they are so aggressive in recruiting. Rex from USF was offering room & board in addition to all the other benefits along with a special admission process and even a no-charge application. A pretty good offer.
University of Portland In Oregon n (small Holy across school - beautiful) also offers free room and board as well as often kicking in a year for 3-year recipients. My son graduates in May from UP and has had a great ROTC experience as well as everything else- consider it - there’s still time!

Anyone know of any other schools that offer free room & board with an ROTC Scholarship?

I’d be glad to link you up via email chat with my son who attends Univ of Portland. I also attended UP as a nursing ROTC scholarship cadet and just had an amazing experience. They are solid and ROTC is very well respected and recognized on campus!

There are many. It depends on what part of the country you want to go to. Some will offer room and board for 4 years even with a 3 year scholarship. With that and scholarships, going to an out of state private was significantly cheaper than our in state public.

I've known Fr. Poorman since he was our hall rector more than 35 years ago.

Texas A&M right? Mine did too. No official ROTC news yet though.

Great to hear! I've committed to UP and plan on doing AROTC there.

I would not say " it's free" but I would say that Army ROTC Moc Battalion at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida does a real good job of providing a supplemental Scholarship to pay for my DD room and board expenses. She received a 4-year scholarship back in 2018. The unit has a phenomenal group of cadre and the unit works real well together. They finished up a Ranger challenge competition in January and now the Army Ten Miler participants are training for the Fall 2020 race. Check it out...flsouthern.edu
