Summer Stem ~ Class of 2027

I have read that they try to take kids from all over the country and world for that matter. I haven’t seen a thread on this that includes stats for kids who have gotten in so I hope this helps.daughter got in as a rising 11th grader.
10th grade classes AP stats, Calc AB, bio med, chem and physics. All conference and district softball and wresting.

I'm starting to get worried about if I will be accepted into to USNA Summer Stem Program for rising tenth graders. I applied February 2nd and stilll haven't received word if I had been accepted. I feel my application was strong having four honors and one AP class for academics. I am a varsity player in football and swimming and junior varsity in lacrosse. Other information I included was my PSAT score of 1180. The most important thing listed in my application was my strong ties to the water through my summer camp, Camp Sea Gull, which prepared me to function confidently on a powerboat and sailboat, and develop character building skills. Which I figured would be good to include to show I would be a good applicant to the USNA in a couple years.
If anyone applied around the same time and has heard anything back yet, please let me know.

I have applied every year to no luck but have really decked out and sharpened my personal resume for my final year as a rising 11th grader. If anyone has information on when we will hear back on if we are accepted (like a deadline of sorts), please let me know.

My DD was waitlisted as rising 9th grader and no go 10th and 11th. But she was selected for SS #3 this year. If you live on the East Coast it is harder to be selected for STEM. So hang in there!

Folks,

There is little to be gained by worrying if you will be picked for STEM/NASS this summer. First, even in a normal year, it has no impact on your competitiveness for Appointment. Both are "awareness" programs ...if USNA has been your dream your entire life, you aren't the target demographic.

Further, if you haven't noticed, this year isn't typical....Admissions is working remotely to finish up the Class of 2024. Whether NASS/STEM will even happen is up in the air, and frankly, I would expect that it is low on the priority list. (HInt: someone posted the Supe's address a few weeks ago, and I don't believe NASS/STEM was even mentioned).

Stay safe out there !

Many people are hinting that the camp won't even be held this summer. I was accepted a week after I turned in my application so I'm not exactly sure how the admission process works. Does anyone know if you are not accepted into the camp if you get a notice that you weren't accepted or are you just left without an email explaining your status?

Good luck!

Absolutely! And especially when you live in one of the most competitive districts in Virginia!

After closely and carefully monitoring the outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 virus nationally, we have regretfully made the difficult decision to cancel our much-anticipated residential summer programs, Summer Seminar and STEM Camp, scheduled for late May and June 2020.

This decision was made in order to protect the health and welfare of our summer program attendees, as well as our midshipmen, faculty and staff who were selected to lead each program. It was also necessary to cancel these programs in order for the U.S. Naval Academy to safely induct the Class of 2024 and conduct summer training for our current midshipmen, keeping them on track to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

We are deeply disappointed, as many of you are, with this news. However, our Office of Admissions staff is working diligently to create new and additional outreach opportunities, including residential programs, as soon as it is safe to do so. We ask you to stay connected in the meantime through our Admissions website at www.usna.edu/admission and social media sites on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates. Additionally, our staff is available daily via live chat from the “Contact Us” chat widget on our Admissions website.

We all look forward to talking with you in the near future. Please stay safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.
