If you do not get selected for a scholarship on the current board, do you get a letter or notification that you are getting moved on to the next board? Or if you aren't notified within a week or so of being a winner, are you supposed to just assume that you did not receive a scholarship and that you are being recycled to the next board? This is for AROTC by the way.

My understanding is the Army will send you a letter whether you are selected or not by the first board that you appear in front of. What that letter says depends on whether you were selected for a scholarship or deferred for consideration to a later board. How long you have to wait for the letter depends on how many people are being boarded and when they finish making their selections for that board. In my opinion you should count on waiting at least a couple of weeks for the letter.

Okay, thanks for the information. Also, do you know if you are selected for a scholarship whether you will find out through the mail first, or through your online status?

I've heard that it shows up on the online status page first. You're not getting anxious are you? :wink:

No, not at all...even though the first board did meet today. :rolleyes:

I thought the first board was meeting on the Sept. 29th, which is today not yesterday. Does anyone have the schedule for the Army ROTC boards?

Once the board meet how long does it take for someone to be notified whether or not they have been given a scholarship or passed along for the next board?

Your notification can be anywhere from a few days to about 3 weeks depending on the source. Last year, my son got his scholarship from the first board that met. A PMS (Professor of Military Science) from one of his top 5 schools called to congratulate him on his award just two days after the board met, and before he got his official letter from Cadet Command.

Thanks for the quick answer!

We got everything in for our son and he met with the PMS up at University of Florida back in August. Cadet Command received all of his things back in August however it took them a long time to get the email to my son that his application was complete. Hopefully it was put before the first board.

Will he know whether or not he was put before the board that is meeting today?

By "he", are you asking about your son or the PMS? Your son will not know. They only notify you once you have received an award. As to the PMS, I'm not sure if they only know who got awarded scholarships or if they also know who went up before the board. If your son got all his requirements done and Cadet Command did confirm that everything was complete before this board met, than I imagine he would have made this one for review.

Best of luck and let us know when you hear anything.

I will, thanks for all of the information.

Well, I got an email from the PMS at my school who said the first board was on the 28th, but read on another schools website that it was the 29th. So im not really sure, or maybe they are two days long? However, the Golden Knight battalion's website for 2009 AROTC says the board dates says..

* 29 September 2009
* 1 December 2009
* 5 January 2010
* 2 February 2010
* 2 March 2010
* 6 April 2010

This is crazy.

I just hung up the phone with the ROO at Son's #1 choice AROTC school. She said the review boards are happening now, today, October 5. Further, she said the next one is in November, but she didn't have the date at her fingertips; she'll email it to Son.

Weird. Are the boards done regionally? Do they last multiple days? How can all these different dates be tossed about? :confused:

I just emailed the new Recruitment officer at UF to see if he could give me the dates. It's the 3rd Recruitment person that UF has had since May so we'll see what kind of information I can get.

I received an email back from the ROO and was told that the dates have changed a few times. He didn't have the exact dates but from what they have been told, the first round of offers will go out mid to late October, then mid to late December, then mid to late February.

So who knows...guess we all have to be patient and sit tight!

2 years ago my oldest son received his official offer from Cadet Command in Mid-October, but first choice school sent him an unofficial offer in September.

I would think by Hallowween the offers should start coming. Good Luck!!
