Still waiting on a waiver

Hi as I sit here and wait for my DS's waiver decision, I can't help but to worry how late it is getting in the process. My DS just received an email regarding the online presentation for reapplying next year. Do they send these letters to everyone who hasn't received a full offer of appointment? I know that there are candidates that wait until June to find out, but I'm hoping my DS is not one of them. Who else is still waiving on a waiver?

My DS got the same email yesterday, and we tried to not put too much thought into it. He did hear from USNA two days ago as they wanted his AMI, which he just sent to DODMERB on Friday (same day they requested it). Still waiting here too! This process is not for the faint of heart, and this is the second time for him. I have to say that it was much easier when I went through it myself long ago! 😊Hang in there.

Wow hang in there. Just curious if your sons still waiting on waivers got a late start on this process to begin with? Or is it just dragging on forever?

He got a late start because he is getting recruited and didn't get his application in until end of January. He finally received instructions for AMIs last week. I'm assuming they haven't gotten a chance to look at his file until last week. Same story with the other candidate that is getting recruited with my DS.. both are waiting with remedial in the works.

My son is a re-applicant/college and NROTC student, so his application was also turned in at the end of January to include first semester grades. So you could say it’s a late start. He’s had an LOA since mid-February.

I'm curious about this "waiting on a waiver" status.. Are these candidates with LOA's, and haven't satisfied the Med Q , or simply CPR and no Medical clearance. I can't imagine there are many still waiting.

My DD has an LOA and waiting on a waiver.

My DS has had an LOA since February. His portal finally changed last week from "Under Waiver Review " to " Under Dodmerb Review" after remedial were sent in back to "Under Waiver Review" this is the most action we have seen in months.

Thank you! He received LOA on February 14, basically two weeks after he completed his application. He did not fill out the survey with new medical info until he got home in mid-March for “Virtual Notre Dame, “ and we took a look
at his portal with him. We think that might have caused some of the delay in his medical waiver. But who knows? Very grateful!

My DS is still waiting on his waiver, but not giving up hope. After receiving DQ by DodMERB on March 6, he received his LOA on March 26, pending medical waiver. Nothing happened for much of April, so we submitted some additional medical reports hoping that would be helpful (clean follow up from a recent, minor surgery, etc). Then, he received AMI requests on May 1 for two additional specialist visits and testing (during COVID!!). We managed to get everything done and documents submitted in less than a week and then waited with no response for another two weeks. At that point, they requested the same information we had previously sent and yet another specialist visit. We got that done and sent back in 2 days!! We are trying so hard to get them everything they want very quickly as we are incredibly hopeful that the naval academy waiver authority will agree that none of his disqualifiers should have any impact on his performance currently or in the future. The doctors/specialists all agree with this, so hopefully the waiver authority will too!! Is anyone else still waiting and should we still have hope?

There is hope until you are told ‘not now’ definitively. It’s a whole different year this year with covid! Who knows 🤷‍♀️?

BTW, has your son been in contact with Mr Muellern via the DODMERB forum, “FAST” instructions? He the man to help.

The waiting is HARD! If they are still asking for medical information, your DS is still being considered. Our DS was checking in with his admissions counselor at USNA every week or two. Also, it's not a DODMERB thing at this point; USNA provides the medical waiver. Hope this helps!

I love it when a plan comes together.
