Hello. Sorry if this has already been asked in the past. I tried to find an answer to my question, but I didn't find one that matched it. I know that IB and Dual Enrollment are different things. Does the Naval Academy look at them the same, or do they prefer one over the other? Also, I didn't see an option to select "Dual Enrollment" when applying for anything relation to the Naval Academy. They only have the option for "AP" or "IB". Do they consider Dual Enrollment classes as IB? Thank you all.

My DD had both IB and dual enrollment classes. She put a note about her dual enrollment classes in the additional comments section of her USNA application. She also sent an official transcript from our local community college where she took the classes. What admissions is looking for is whether you take challenging courses. AP, IB, and dual enrollment courses would all qualify there. I would take whichever courses you think will best prepare you for your future academic success. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. Although, what I meant was when I apply for the preliminary application, what should I mark my dual enrollment classes as because under their scroll down selection, you can only choose honors, AP, or IB? Would it be right for me to put them as IB, or do I not mention my dual enrollment classes at all in the top section and just wait to put them under the extra comments section?

Sorry I wasn't clear. What my DD did was only list the dual enrollment classes in the extra comments section and put her high school classes in the main section.

That's okay. Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it.

In our son's case, the dual enrollment courses took place at the high school via local college. He sent both the HS transcript and the College Transcript, he also listed the courses by name in the classes section of application and made a note in additional comments. I would think them receiving both transcripts would make it clear for sure. I also believe he listed his HS GPA and his college gpa (with credits completed) on resume. Then it can be seen by others such as interview panels for members of congress nomination events.

DS completed his Summer seminar application this year and listed the Dual enrollment courses in the AP/IB section. I honestly can't remember if there was something on the application that led us to do that or if we researched it online and chose to put it there.
