Here is the latest directive from West Point:
“As we finish the last few weeks of summer training and prepare to begin the academic year, West Point has determined that no parents, guests, or visitors will be allowed to attend any cadet-related events or activities. This guidance includes Air Assault training and graduation, CFT2 Awards and Promotion Ceremony (Aug. 9), and Ruck Back from Camp Buckner (Aug. 10), the March Back (Aug. 10) for the Class of 2024 and the Acceptance Day parade (Aug. 15).
When appropriate, events are live-streamed, captured via photos, and shared via West Point social media platforms. Cadets will receive information on privileges for the academic year during Reorganization Week (Aug. 10-15). The health and well-being of the Corps of Cadets, family and friends, staff, faculty, and the broader West Point community are paramount as we continue to work with our state and local partners during this time.”

It is sad that our sons and daughters do not have the same events that other classes had, but it is a sign of the times. As much as we will miss the "in person" aspects of the West Point experience, they are doing the right thing. We would rather miss this years events and have the Corps safe and healthy than visit, hug, enjoy and have a bad outbreak of Covid that causes the Corps to suffer as a whole.
Things WILL return to normal, and most if not all the events can be viewed on facebook or youtube live, no family members will be there in person, but we will all be there in spirit!
