I consider myself an absolutist when it comes to mixing politics in with the military, to the point of avoiding all possible appearances. I'm sure the official policy will be rightly drilled into their young heads.
But, this isn't exactly Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville, NC. It's a USAR Center in Pago Pago on a 77 sq. mile dot in the middle of the Pacific. My guess is that those soldiers, like many of their Pacific Islander forebears, are proud to wear their uniforms as an affirmation of being American soldiers. They probably jump at the chance to show them off. They can't even vote for President anyway. I say round up a couple of other soldiers to show when the Repubs do their Roll Call and call it square.
Got to admit the backdrop of that picture is stunning.
